City Series: Top Wide Receivers In Southern NM For 2025

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Our summer City Series continues with a look at the top wide receivers in Southern New Mexico entering the 2025 season:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1137066' first='Robert' last='Castaneda'], Carlsbad</strong>: Castaneda's climb to becoming one of the top receivers in southern New Mexico has gone largely unnoticed because of the Cavemen's struggles from a win-loss perspective. Castaneda had 48 receptions for 711 yards and 12 TD as a junior in 2024. He'll be pursuing 2,000 career receiving yards this season. Eastern New Mexico has offered,    </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1137475' first='Jayden' last='Gutierrez'], Lovington</strong>: Few junior receivers in the state had more receptions than Gutierrez last season. He finished with 55 receptions for 756 yards and 11 TD. First-Team All-State WR in 2024. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1137096' first='Jay' last='Lee'], Socorro</strong>: Lee led all juniors in the state last season in receptions (58), receiving yards (1,182) and TD catches (17). Lee will have a new Warriors quarterback this season throwing him the ball, but Lee will surely post impressive numbers again. He has 118 receptions in the past two seasons.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1155087' first='Anthony' last='Palomares'], Gadsden</strong>: Palomares led the Panthers with 46 receptions last season as a sophomore. One of the best intermediate range receivers in the state. He's been a camp warrior during the offseason and certainly possesses next level talent. &nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1142363' first='Francisco' last='Winnikoff'], Las Cruces</strong>: Winnikoff entered last season as the Bulldawgs' No. 2 WR but ended up with the most receptions (51) and tied for the lead in TD catches (5). The 6-foot-1 Winnikoff has good size and fantastic hands.
