Ethan has solidified himself as one of the underclassmen QBs in the state to keep an eye on. I’ve tracked his movements over the summer, and he is poised to have a good sophomore season. He is a good athlete at the QB position with really nice movement. Mellott looks really comfortable getting the ball downfield when rolling out, as he had many completions and connections at the camp. I liked how he soaked in the coaching of different concepts and executed with good mechanics and timing during the 3 over 2 and 7v7 portions.

Ethan has had a really busy off season attending many different camps, workouts and showcases. I’ve seen steady improvement from the beginning of the summer to where we’re at now.

-Dual Threat Ability: Can easily create with his legs or his arm, good ball carrier vision when he pulls to run, over 800 rushing yards and 1100 passing yards last season in limited playing time.

-Good Overall IQ: Does a good job of running his offense whether it’s in shotgun or under center, great decision maker when it comes to reading defenders to hand ball off or pull it, good decision maker off reads.

Ethan was an excellent surprise. Credit to Ethan and his family for spending their Sunday traveling from St. Joseph to Fenton.

Simply put, Ethan’s arm was superior to most QBs. Ethan’s consistent, quick throwing motion allowed him to zip the ball to the target. All throws had a fair amount of zip and were generally accurate. Again, Ethan’s throwing motion/mechanics really make his game. A consistent throwing motion allows for consistent accuracy.

Ethan’s on track to be a great Varsity QB. Excited for him to eventually be QB1 on St. Joseph, who is always a dark horse State Championship contender.
