Prep Redzone’s updated class of 2023 rankings features a couple of San Diego quarterbacks, but I will highlight a couple other quarterbacks in the class who may make an impact this fall.
8. Mark Sladack, Rancho Bernardo
Sladack’s ability to throw on the run and extend plays lands him on this list. He is an athlete who can keep the ball and run when plays break down. The offense features a lot of plays where Sladack runs a play action fake and has to make a quick decision with the ball. More often than not, he makes the right decision and has the arm strength to fit the ball in tight windows.

7. Jake Davila Jake Davila 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB Christian | 2023 CA , Christian (El Cajon)
Davila improved greatly when you watch his freshman year film and his sophomore film. He throws a much better ball now, put on some size and adjusted nicely to the speed of the varsity game. He’s athletic and improved as the year went on. The other Christian quarterback who played graduated so Davila will have the offense to himself this fall and could be a 1,000 yard passer which is impressive in their offense.

6. Connor Annicharico, La Costa Canyon
Annicharico became a big name in San Diego County when he came in for the injured starter and led La Costa Canyon to a walk off win against county powerhouse Oceanside. He showed incredible poise in that game and threw accurate balls to the far side of the field. He is mobile, can throw on the run and plays taller than his 6-foot-2 frame. He made an impressive throw against Orange Glen where he took a big hit after and still threw an accurate touchdown pass on a wheel route.

5. Dominic Nankil Dominic Nankil 6'1" | 170 lbs | QB Mater Dei Catholic | 2023 State CA , Mater Dei Catholic
He hasn’t made a varsity start yet but his name has been generating some buzz and he found himself on Prep Redzone’s class of 2023 rankings. He has been doing well on the 7-on-7 circuit which isn’t surprising because he has a big arm. His arm strength stood out when you watch his lower level film and he keeps his eyes down the field while under pressure which is usually a challenge for younger quarterbacks. He already has an offer from New Mexico State, which is where Mater Dei’s class of 2021 quarterback Trevor Appelman signed. New Mexico State may have found a quarterback pipeline in Chula Vista.
