Keely remained one of the top uncommitted prospects in Iowa’s 2027 Class when the Prep Redzone rankings update dropped this week. It’s not from a lack of potential. He oozes the type of athleticism as a 6-foot-9 high jumper that you’d think would attract more programs on the next level. Keely also finished second in the 200 meters (22.1 seconds) and sixth in the 100 (11.09) at the state track meet in May. The skill set would work at receiver or defensive back in college. There’s plenty of room to fill out his projectable frame and time to develop fundamentally at numerous spots. Somebody is going to get a steal in recruiting if they take a chance on this kid.

Keely has been on the radar of Prep Redzone Iowa and college coaches for quite some time. He’s steadily improved while continuing to flash a high ceiling at Greene County. He contributed all around the field for the Rams last fall. Keely hauled in 17 balls for 220 yards and a pair of touchdowns, adding 17 yards on his only rushing attempt. Defensively, eight of his 9.0 tackles were solo stops, and he intercepted a pass. Keely averaged 20.0 yards on seven kick returns. His 11th-grade highlight video gives is a well-rounded competitor capable of impacting the game in multiple phases. There’s speed and athleticism with a projectable frame. With expected strength gains from offseason work, a sensational senior season for Keely likely is loading.

We last checked in with Keely with an evaluation about eight months ago. It’s certainly a good time to check in with what he did as a junior for Greene County. What we find out is that he did a little bit of everything for the Rams last fall. Keely caught 17 balls for 220 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and picked up 17 yards on his lone rushing attempt. On defense, eight of his 9.0 tackles were of the solo variety, and he also picked off a pass. Keely averaged 20.0 yards on seven kick returns. His 11th-grade highlight video reveals an Athlete that could project at multiple positions on both sides of the ball and be an asset on special teams. Keely is a tough matchup out wide as a receiver that runs crisp routes, high-points the ball well and can get deep. His long strides, speed and smooth change of direction make him a sticky DB.

If you haven’t heard about Keely, allow us to introduce you to this small-town Iowa athletic marvel. As a sophomore in 2024, he earned first-team all-district honors in football and basketball. Keely then won the Class 1A state high jump championship with a leap of 6-8 in May. On the gridiron, Keely caught 24 balls for 347 yards and a touchdown, and added 26 yards rushing on 5 attempts. He recorded 27.5 tackles, intercepted five passes and averaged 27.5 yards on 10 kick returns with a pair of scores. Speed certainly is a big part of his game, as we witness when watching his 10th-grade highlight video. It especially stands out on returns He adds crisp routes to it in delivering as a receiver, and solid technique when lining up in the secondary.
