2025 Final Rankings: NorCal New Additions

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">In-depth evaluations of the northern California 2025 prospects that are making their debut in the PRZ state rankings.</h2>    Scott was a 1,000 yard receiver on one of the bay area's top teams in 2024 with 78 receptions for 1,084 yards and 13 touchdowns. 5'11” 175 lbs. he's a reliable target and that creates easy separation with advanced route running skills. Smooth and fluid with his movement and changing directions coming out of his break. Quick acceleration off the LOS and is excellent releasing off both press and soft coverage. Love his ability to attack DB's leverage and force an off balance transition to create positioning. Whether running vertically or short/intermediate routes he shows great timing and control in his breaks. Confident at the catch point, he's got great concentration and body control to make difficult adjustments to ball flight. UC Davis is getting a steal.      Cocchiglia is an aggressive blocker with a great foundational skillset for the college level that combines his size, strength, and agility for the OL. At 6'5” 290 lbs. he played on the interior at OG for Los Gatos but his frame and movement skillsets could transition to OT if needed. Brings good power to the line with the ability to create movement at the LOS with a heavy initial strike and forceful contact. Shows he can work to the second with good bend and foot speed. Like that he can get out in front as a puller or get to the perimeter in time. At the POA, he's under control and balanced through contact. He keeps his feet underneath his body and uses his hands well to sustain throughout the play. Committed to Cal Poly over offers from Eastern Washington and Idaho.      Phillips was a dynamic playmaker for Ukiah racking up over 1,500 scrimmage yards, 86 receptions, and 24 touchdowns while adding six interceptions on defense. Outstanding athlete that is quick in the short area and has the long speed to stretch the field as a route runner or make explosive plays after the catch. Great spatial awareness and ability to get open at all three levels. Can use his natural route running ability to create easy separation or establish a throwing lane by finding the soft spot in coverage. Plus ball skills, he flashes great judgement and adjustment ability. Can make the difficult catch in a tight window or make the acrobatic catch on balls outside his frame. After the catch, he's elusive and possesses the speed to break away once in space. Flew under the recruiting radar but signed to Cal Poly.      Giarritta was one of the top two-way playmakers in the north bay as a senior finishing the 2024 season with 78 receptions for 1,078 yards, and 32 total touchdowns while adding 45 tackles, seven interceptions, and seven PBU. Impressive all-around player with a wide skillset that blends his size, athleticism, and ball skills. At 6'2” 195 lbs. he's a dangerous jump ball threat downfield and in the redzone. He uses his length, leaping ability, and timing to go up over the top of defenders to high point. Possesses a large catch radius and extends out to catch the ball with his hands away from his body. Like that he can box out defenders and create leverage to play the ball in the air. Good game speed with a hard drive phase in his routes and can extend gains after the catch. He's a high IQ player with natural instincts and anticipation that shows on both sides of the ball. Committed to Cal Poly over an offer from San Diego.      Nelson is a mauler with brute strength and power at the POA. 6'5” 290 lbs. he's a violent finisher that drives through contact to move defenders and be a dominate force on the LOS. A plus athlete at his size that shows good initial quickness and footwork. He can move in the short area to mirror movement in pass protection or get to the spot to engage without disrupting the timing of the play. Once engaged, he generates push by accelerating his feet at contact and controls defenders with good hand usage/placement. In pass protection, he's quick into his set and does a good job keeping a clean pocket by maintaining leverage and moving his feet. Knows how to use his length to his advantage and carries a strong anchor to absorb an oncoming rush without giving up ground. Committed to Idaho.
