Get to Know James Grant
Grant plays linebacker, fullback, punt returner, and special teams for the Panthers of Parkers Prairie. He’s a grinder that works hard on his game consistently. He loves hitting people on every play he gets. His biggest strength is his no-fear attitude to up against anyone of any size.
Favorite Part about Linebacker/Fullback
At linebacker, Grant’s favorite things are hitting people, getting lots of pressure on the quarterback and being able to drop back in coverage when there is a need. At fullback, his favorites are making key blocks for the Panthers offense as well as catching passes when there is a need for it.
College Interest/Pitch to College Coaches
Grant did have some interest from Minnesota-Crookston before the program was terminated. He stated, “several coaches” have contacted his Parkers Prairie head coach about Grant playing for them at the next level. His pitch to college coaches is his leadership on and off the field which is second to none. Grant is also a motivator and will push any teammate to give their maximum effort at any given time.
Improvements Made By Grant
Grant told Northstar Football News since the season ended that he’s been spending as much time as possible in the weight room and gym. Parkers Prairie coaches told Grant to work on his speed and agility as they would like him as a bigger part of the Panthers offense next year as far as running the ball, blocking defenders, and making more catches than in years past. Grant also said his emphasis on watching game film has improved this offseason in preparation for next season.
James’s Mentor
James owed all of his mentorships to Parkers Prairie head coach Mike Johnson. “Coach Johnson pushes me to improvement at everything I do,” Grant told NFN as Johnson has also helped James at becoming a better leader and stronger academically as well. He also gives him advice on improving his game and to develop himself as a young man as well.
Learning from Last Season
The biggest thing James Grant learned as a player this season that you can never work hard enough. “There is always room for improvement, not only on the field, in the gym, but the classroom as well,” he said to Northstar Football News. Digging deeper and giving more effort all times is something Grant knows better now as a senior to be. He’s improved his football IQ the most by playing multiple positions all over the football field.
