As we get closer to the start of the Fall 2021 season these young men are practicing with their respective teams getting ready for their Week 1 matchup. With that being said let’s take a look at 5 preseason names to watch as the days are getting closer and closer to gameday.
[player_tooltip player_id="135832" first="Luke" last="Woodson"] Deerfield Twitter Highlights Mr. Woodson is from Deerfield, he currently holds no offers and was on our 6A 1st Team All-State Team for his spring season performance. On offense, he’s quick off the line of scrimmage when he lines up at wideout and gets upfield quickly once he secures the catch. When he lines up at running back, he bursts through the line of scrimmage and breaks arm tackles by keeping his feet driving resulting in a big gain on the play. On defense, he has the closing speed to cover sideline to sideline as well as get pressure on the quarterback where on more than one occasion he makes the chase down sack. Overall, this young man is a sight to see on both sides of the ball and I expect his stock to increase once the fall season is concluded. If your program is looking for a young man that gets it done on both sides of the ball, go check out his highlight tape above to see if he’s a fit for your program. [player_tooltip player_id="155538" first="Camden" last="Robbins"] Fairfield Twitter Highlights Mr. Robbins is from Fairfield, he currently holds one offer from McKendree University and was on our 3A 1st Team All-State team for this past spring season. On offense, he gets upfield quickly after securing the catch specifically when he's running a screen play and showcases his effort with multiple clips diving into the endzone as the defender is trying to bring him down. On defense, his ability to break on the ball once diagnosing the play is a sight to see which results in pass deflections and interceptions. There's a play at the beginning of his highlight tape where he makes a good break on the ball and full extends himself as he dives in the air to come down with the interception. It's plays like that which stand out about this young man, not to mention he has the closing speed to cover sideline to sideline as well as make open-field tackles. If you like what you're reading so far about this young man, go check out his highlight tape above to see if he's a fit for your program. [player_tooltip player_id="155086" first="Justin" last="Harris"] Lincoln-Way West Twitter Highlights Mr. Harris is from Lincoln-Way West, he currently holds no offers and was a sight to see this past spring season. On offense, he bursts through the line of scrimmage and breaks arm tackles by keeping his feet driving. He’s also able to catch out of the backfield where once he secures the catch he turns upfield quickly, he also makes defenders miss with his jump cuts showcasing his elusiveness. On defense, he’s able to stay with his man in coverage downfield and can undercut the route resulting in an interception as shown on the first play of his highlight tape. Overall, this young man is going to have his stock increase as he and [player_tooltip player_id="139888" first="Eric" last="Nowak"] look to finish out their high school careers on a high note. If this young man fits what you’re looking for in your program, go check out his highlight tape above. [player_tooltip player_id="139888" first="Eric" last="Nowak"] Lincoln-Way West Twitter Highlights Mr. Nowak is from Lincoln-Way West, he currently holds one offer from Indiana State University and had one heck of a spring season performance. On offense, he gets upfield quickly after securing the catch whether it’s after running a bubble screen out of the slot or right after he breaks the defender off at the top of his route downfield. He’s quick off the line of scrimmage causing problems for opposing defenders as he can stack them quickly to win the deep route and uses his toe tap to make sideline grabs. On defense, he stays with his man in coverage running the reciever off of his route and uses his closing speed to make open-field tackles. This young man runs a 4.5 40 and is looking to do big things this fall season with fellow ATH [player_tooltip player_id="155086" first="Justin" last="Harris"]. If this sounds like what your program is looking for, go check out this young man’s highlights above. [player_tooltip player_id="20866" first="Nashon" last="Johnson"] Eisenhower Twitter Highlights Mr. Johnson is from Eisenhower, he currently holds no offers and was on our 7A All-State Honorable Mention list for his performance this past spring season. Go take a look at this young man's first highlight tape and it says all that you need to know about this dual-threat QB. On offense, he can scramble showcasing his mobility as seen on the first clip of his highlight tape. In this clip, he takes the direct snap for a QB run play and changes gears quickly bursting through the line of scrimmage weaving in and out of defenders for a touchdown. He's also able to put the ball in the receiver's basket while he's being pressured and throwing on the run. On defense, he gets off of blocks to make the tackle at the line of scrimmage as seen with a goal-line stance at the beginning of his highlight tape and stays with his man in coverage downfield. Overall, this young man is exciting to watch as you even know when he's going to make a big play for his team. If this young man sounds like the right fit for your program, go take a look at his highlight tape above. Notables [player_tooltip player_id="20933" first="Jalen" last="Tripp"] Lincoln Park Twitter Highlights
These are some of the Preseason Names to Watch at the ATH position for the class of 2022. Keep an eye on these young men as they get ready to put the pads on. Be sure to follow @jamaskane regarding news & information for Illinois High School Football, @PrepRedzoneIL, and @PrepRedzone.
