LSU football signees help headline D-I indoor track championships

Louisiana's indoor track and field season wrapped up this past weekend with the state championship meet in LSU's Carl Maddox Fieldhouse.   As always, a long list of football standouts were among the top performers, including several title-winners and podium-finishers.   Here's a look at the multisport athletes we know have some football background — including a couple 2025 LSU football signees — who finished in the top six of their individual events to net points for their schools in the meet in Division-I competition. [player_tooltip player_id='1214132' first='Ferzell' last='Shepard'] — 6-2, 175 WR — Scotlandville (2025)   The one-time Mississippi State football commitment won the long jump (23-3.25) and finished second in the triple jump (47-6.00) to help lead his Hornets to a second-place team finish in the overall meet. Carter Hooks — 6-0, 170 DB — Barbe (2025)   The Bucs' defensive back finished second in the pole vault (13-11.25). Miller Malley — 6-0, 175 DB — Benton (2025)   The senior safety won the pole vault (14-5.25).     Marquis Butler — 5-11, 150 ATH — Alexandria (2025)   Butler won the triple jump (47-8.00).     Kaden Adams — 6-0, 320 OL — Central Lafourche (2025)   The big offensive lineman won the shot put (58-6.25).     Jaivyn Washington — WR — Prairieville (2026)   The junior receiver finished the indoor season strong with a second-place 60-meter hurdles (8.27 seconds) showing.     Brayden Berglund — 5-10, 145 WR — Mandeville (2026)   Berglund won the 800-meter run (1:58.34).     Micah Green — 5-8, 155 WR — Archbishop Rummel (2026)   The Raiders' wide receiver finished strong to claim third place in the 60-meter dash (6.90 seconds).     Travon James — 6-2, 180 WR — A.J. Ellender (2025)   The Patriots' receiver finished third in the high jump (6-4.75).     Jack Torrance — 6-1, 255 OL — Catholic (Baton Rouge) (2026)   Torrance finished third in the shot put (55-8.50) for the champion Bears.     Christian Pierre — 5-11, 165 DB — Dutchtown (2025)   The Griffins' defensive back finished fourth in the 60-meter dash (6.97 seconds), but had his best time in the preliminary heat (6.91 seconds). Scott Walker — 5-9, 160 DB — Scotlandville (2025)   Walker finished fifth in the long jump (21-7.00).     Ben Rodrigue — 5-8, 145 RB/ATH — E.D. White (2025)   The Cardinals' versatile athlete finished fifth in the triple jump (46-0.75).     Brodie Roberts — 5-10, 140 — Denham Springs (2025)   Roberts finished fifth in the 60-meter dash (6.98 seconds). [player_tooltip player_id='1737475' first='Keidrick' last='Bailey Jr.'] — 6-2, 290 OL — Zachary (2026)   The Broncos' offensive lineman finished sixth in the shot put (51-3.00).     Jaden Thomas — 6-2, 185 ATH — John Curtis (2025)   Thomas finished sixth in the high jump (6-0.75).     Cedric Thompson — 5-9, 140 WR — Covington (2025)   Thompson finished sixth in the 60-meter dash (7.03 seconds), but posted his better time (6.98) in the preliminary heat.     Cohen Aucoin — WR — Thibodaux (2026)   Aucoin finished sixth in the 800-meter run (2:03.57).     Rhoby Graham — WR — Walker (2025)   Graham tied with teammate Eli Hegwood for sixth in the pole vault (12-11.50).
