Since I have started writing for Kansas Prep Redzone this past month, I have been focusing on 2027 kids who have yet to be ranked. This past Tuesday on the 4th, we released our updated 2027 rankings. The kids I had been showcasing are now in those new rankings. Here are five more Western Kansas ballers to keep an eye on for future ranking updates.

Once again profiles for each of these athletes have been created on Prep Redzone and can be claimed by using the following link.

https://prepredzone.com/prospects-index/#claim-profile-anchor

Athletes are encouraged to claim their profiles.

Now lets get into these five deserving to be junior athletes from the western part of the state.

Brenner is a strong lineman that is ever developing. He plays center and defensive line for the Eagles but he even has had some snaps at tight end. Due to his athletic ability he definitely has the potential to be a college prospect down the road due to his frame. Also plays basketball but it is on the gridiron where he makes his mark.

At 6-foot-3, 245-pounds, Brenner is a intriguing 8-Man lineman prospects due to size and athletic ability. Offensively he mostly plays center but has played some snaps at tight end throughout his career. He is able to get off the ball quickly from either under center or when he is in the shot-gun. His quickness allows him to be an able puller if called upon. This past season when he did play tight end, in which he showed his athletic ability in hauling in a 25 yard reception.

Defensively he is able to played all along the defensive front. He had 22 tackles (12 solo and 10 assisted) and 5.5 tackles for loss. I'll be keeping my eye on this trench monster throughout this off-season and coming 2025 season.

Wederski is an exciting young prospect due to his speed and versatility. He shows an athletic frame and you can tell he has already put the work in the weight room and out on the track.

His ability to stretch the field is his biggest strength but he is able to take a short pass and take it to the house. Also shows off very good hands. A game changer on both side of the ball, he is a very capable secondary player for the Eagles. His best days are ahead of him.

Colby had a very solid season this past fall but they will be graduating some very impressive athletes. Namely quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1228459' first='Casen' last='Carroll'] and wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1228445' first='Kasey' last='Giesenhagen'] who are both headed for Garden City CC this coming fall. This will allow young athletes like [player_tooltip player_id='1620505' first='Sean' last='Wederski'] and 2028 quarterback phenom [player_tooltip player_id='1327831' first='Maxson' last='Smiley'] to step into these important positional roles.

Most of Wederski's production came in junior varsity action but he did show enough this past season to catch peoples attention. At 5-foot-10, 170-pounds he is blessed to play in a spread offense that is very pass happy. He shows an all-around game and a high football IQ. Helps that he carries an 4.0 GPA and has a 6-foot-2 wingspan. Someone college coaches already need to be aware about for the coming seasons.

When you look at Baalmann, you can definitely tell you are dealing with a very good athlete. Plays both ways for the Monarch's but also a tremendous baseball prospect as well.

It is his potential as a playmaker all across the field that catches ones attention. Plays running back and linebacker but could just as easily play wide receiver or in the secondary.

Has the frame to really fill out and make for an intriguing college athlete.

Thomas Moore Prep has multiple young athletes who were able to showcase their talents this past fall. Look for the Monarchs to build on their 5-4 record and the 6-foot-0, 175-pound Baalmann is a big reason for that possibility.

Known as a very good baseball player already in high school, it is now time to make light of his abilities on the gridiron. This past fall he had 16 carries for 188 yards and two touchdowns in a pass first offense. Defensively he had 11 tackles (6 solo and 5 assisted) and three sacks. He shows the ability to be quite disruptor in the offensive backfield from his linebacker position.

Most of his time was spent on junior varsity until the later part of the 2024 season. He should be a focal point in the backfield along with fellow 2027 graduate, [player_tooltip player_id='1620508' first='Jackson' last='Gillespie'].

Gillespie is a strong runner who shows good lower body strength and really good speed. They really showcase him out on the perimeter in TMP's spread attack.

You can tell his wrestling background has worked in his favor already with his balance and agility. Could be a prospect for colleges to keep an eye on for both football and wrestling.

Gillespie is definitely a baller to keep an eye on this coming season. He is a very good athlete that is has to put up pretty big numbers even in a pass heavy offense. He shares the backfield with another talent back in [player_tooltip player_id='1620506' first='Logan' last='Baalmann'] but it is Jackson who is the front runner currently.

The 5-foot-9, 150-pound athlete excels in both football and wrestling. He has very good speed and agility and that should only improves as he gets bigger and stronger. This past fall he rushed for 329 yards on 54 carries and five touchdowns in only five games due to injury. Look for those numbers to double at least during the 2025 season. Could be someone to keep an eye on out of the backfield as a pass catcher.

On the other side of the ball, Jackson had 24 tackles (10 solo and 14 assisted) from the secondary. This winter he has either won or placed very highly in his wrestling after healing from his past falls football injury.

Playmaker who will only get more explosive and faster as he gets stronger. Already shows the ability to stretch the field and be major weapon in the screen game. Has a wrestling background but it is on the football field he really shows out.

The Bluejays may not have quite had the season they had hoped for in the Great West Activities Conference but the future looks bright with a talented sophomore class. One of those talented 2027 prospects is the 5-foot-10, 150-pound Barranca.

He showed the ability to stretch the field with his speed but they loved working him in the flats and in the screen game. He had 34 receptions for 283 yards and two touchdowns. He averaged 8.3 yards per reception due to that heavy quick game usage. Cimarron had three talented receivers in the sophomore class but one of them could be the next quarterback in Coulter Dohrmann, after graduation of [player_tooltip player_id='1115508' first='Trace' last='Kopper']. Barranca and McCoy Nash should be the focal point of the passing attack.

On the defensive side of the ball he showed good production when he provided 18 tackles (15 solo and 3 assisted) and one sack on the season.

Look for these five prospects to be in the next 2027 ranking update. Be on the look-out for future write ups on ranked 2027 prospects and 2028 stars from Western Kansas or 8-Man stars from across the state. You can always find me at @Coach_Mitchum on X.
