Every player listed in the rankings made the best of their shortened season, earning their way under the spotlight and being selected as the top in their positions.
The top five defensive backs are players who were flying under the radar before their junior years. Now, they have fought their way to the front of the pack and solidified themselves as the top defensive backs in state.
Malique Singleton Malique Singleton 6'0" | 170 lbs | DB Grandview | 2022 State CO | Grandview | 6’0, 170lbs
Singleton finished his junior season with a total of 59 tackles, five interceptions, and one forced fumble. He even returned two of the interceptions for touchdowns. Singleton is an extremely poised DB with an advanced football IQ. He is a safety who makes spectacular plays on the ball in the air, and he is also physical enough to provide support in the box against the run.
Jayden Allen Jayden Allen 5'10" | DB Fountain-Fort Carson | 2022 State CO | Fountain-Fort Carson | 5’11, 175lbs
Allen is a physical corner with fluid movements and a strong understanding of receiver route concepts, making him extremely tough to beat. He finished last season with 27 total tackles, four pass breakups, one fumble recovery, and a touchdown off of a punt return. Allen’s jams are precise and disruptive, and his ability to play the ball in the air and finish through the catch is next level.
Kahden Rullo Kahden Rullo 6'1" | 180 lbs | DB Grandview | 2022 State CO | Grandview | 6’1”, 185lbs
Rullo had a phenomenal junior campaign, finishing with a total of 34 tackles, six interceptions, and three defensive touchdowns. On one of his forced fumbles, he simply took the ball from the opposing returner and ran it back for a score. Rullo has used the offseason to put on close to 15lbs while continuing to sharpen his skill set.
Marcus Williams Marcus Williams 5'11" | DB Grandview | 2022 State CO | Grandview | 5’11”, 170lbs
Williams is a physical corner who excels in press-man coverage. He finished his junior year with 38 total tackles, two interceptions, and one forced fumble. Williams is the type of corner who can lock down his receiver in one-on-one coverage, control his area in zone coverage, and initiate contact whenever the ball carrier is anywhere near his vicinity.
Pyreese Miller Pyreese Miller 5'10" | 175 lbs | DB Arapahoe | 2022 State CO | Arapahoe | 5’10”, 175lbs
Miller is a DB who utilizes excellent footwork and athleticism to cover ground and pick up receiving threats. When running with a receiver, he knows to sit in the hip pocket while maintaining leverage and playing the ball in the air. Miller is also a hard hitting player who is capable of meeting a ball carrier in open field and bringing the boom.
