A Pennsylvania junior who is currently on our watch list. We still have him listed at 5’10, 165 pounds. He posted a midseason tape at the very end of September, just about a week ago, showcasing production on both sides of the ball.
Defensively, he has recorded one PBU and 11 total tackles. Offensively, Steals is averaging roughly one catch per game with 50 receiving yards and a touchdown. I’m actively checking in on him to determine whether he is worthy of being elevated off our watch list and into the rankings.
His midseason tape runs about four minutes. The offensive production is a bit minimal, which is okay. I’m more interested in what he is showing at defensive back.
His first rep has him aligned at outside corner about six yards off the ball. He sits on a curl route, gets targeted and blows up what should have been an easy pitch and catch between the quarterback and receiver. He carries his weight well and is tough as nails. He doesn’t mind throwing his body around, knifing downhill and attacking routes developing in front of him.
His second rep again comes from off coverage, this time about eight yards deep. He looks comfortable when he can keep his matchup in front of him. There are good instincts here. He understands route concepts and the nuances of releases well enough to work a minimal, quick backpedal before attacking downhill. The result is similar to his first rep, blowing up another play that should have been an easy completion.
He can also be trusted to play through the whistle in run support and clean up tackles when necessary. More than anything, he looks like he is having fun on the field.
His fourth rep might be the best example of the energy and effort he brings on Friday nights. He works across the field and essentially runs sideline to sideline to catch up with his man coverage assignment, who is already running an out route with a full head of steam. He still closes the distance, catches him and brings him down for a minimal gain.
Great effort rep. There is a ton of energy throughout this tape, and he is certainly giving me something to think about as I consider moving him off the watch list.

played at a high level last season as a cornerback. His ability to cover and make plays on the ball thrown at him is impressive. He has excellent ball skills. He also shows a good nose for the ball. His ability to make tackles all over the field is good. He even recovered a fumble by being near the ball. Then he made an impact as a player on the kickoff team by running downfield and making tackles. Steals has the potential to be an even bigger contributor next season.

Steals is a breakout candidate for Central Valley in 2025. Steals has been camping all offseason and attended the PRZ PA Stock Up Showcase in May. He already has good size and frame for a sophomore. He’s rangy as a safety and can also play as a boundary corner. He showcases good ball skills. He’s a great athlete and is swift in his movement and fluidity. Myshawn can be a huge gamechanger for the Warriors this season.

I’m very intrigued by MyShawn Steals. He has solid size for a DB and he’s very rangy at free safety. He has a knack for finding the ball in air and often is getting PBUs. When I watch him he’s just an overall smooth athlete with loose hips and good change of direction ability. While I think his home for his varsity career is at DB he does have some range and value to be offered on the offensive side of the ball. Overall Steals will be a name to watch going into next season and seasons following.
