Stock Up Showcase, Positional Notes: Linebackers, Part I

Below are personal scouting notes from the action I witnessed.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Scouts Notes: Linebackers</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A prospect that I took a look at in my <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2024/12/prznj-stock-up-showcase-4-defensive-prospects-im-pumped-to-see/">defensive preview</a> of the Stock Up Showcase, [player_tooltip player_id='1571996' first='Tyler' last='Zysk'] did not disappoint. Zysk, a native of Hillsborough who attends Hillsborough High School, repped for his home town - where the event happened to be held - extremely well. After watching his film, Zysk addressed my main concern that I had, as he demonstrated the ability to run well with his matchup as they went deep. One area I feel he can continue to improve is body leverage and feeling, without the overuse of his hands, where the running back will break as they run their route.... [player_tooltip player_id='1575746' first='John' last='Cummings'] might have split up his reps at linebacker between covering backs out of the backfield and pass rushing. Cummings showcased a very good rip inside when rushing the passer. After threatening with speed, he cross-faced his matchup and exaggerated the rip, starting low and finishing high, as this forced a disengagement from the offensive lineman.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Aside from being atop the <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2024/12/stock-up-showcase-standout-40s-and-broad-jumps/">combine scores</a> in <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2024/12/stock-up-showcase-standout-40s-and-broad-jumps-2/">all four</a> of the drills we in which he tested, [player_tooltip player_id='1570210' first='Dylan' last='Burbridge'] is appears ready to burn all bridges and boats like his name is Sun Tzu as he prepares for what will be his senior season. On the field, I noticed that Burbridge does an outstanding job using his body. His quickness, strength, speed, and explosiveness are complimented by his linebacking instincts and reads, allowing him to deny his matchup clean and easy paths to their spot when running their routes. Burbridge did an outstanding job using his body to interrupt timing and route patterns.... For as great as Burbridge moved in testing, to my naked eye [player_tooltip player_id='1285768' first='Timothy' last='Tan'] might have moved the best of the bunch.
