A big, agile multi-sport athlete that will get plenty of Varsity opportunity early in his career in both football and basketball. I’ve long said I feel Thearp could eventually evolve into one of the top Tight Ends in the state (think former hoopers Tony Gonzalez and Jimmy Graham). Thearp tells me he’s playing Quarterback with the freshmen, but also playing Wide Receiver on the Varsity level.

As I said when I first wrote about him back in October, Thearp is yet to formally play the Tight End position, but he looks like he could walk onto many Varsity programs in the state and become the starter at the position. At 6-foot-3 and now up to 180-pounds, with a ton of length, he looks ideal for the position. He scored 11 touchdowns in the 2024 season, but they came from the Quarterback and Wide Receiver positions. Followed up his football season with an outstanding basketball season, which saw the JFK prospect earn several All-Star game selections.

in this article about Tight Ends in October 2024 could be a stroke of genius in due time, because he currently does not play the position. We have him listed as an Athlete because he played both Quarterback and Wide Receiver this past season for JFK Middle School. The 6-foot-3, 175-pounder is an impressive looking prospect. Also a top basketball player in the state, Thearp leaned on that athleticism to tally 11 touchdowns this season. Now, the argument for Tight End comes in when looking at his frame and what it could become. He already has a strong, muscular build and brings physicality to the field as receiver–likely from the all the banging to grab rebounds on the basketball court.
