Seeing Linebacker prospects play in person is VERY hit or miss. If I’ve learned one thing working this job, it’s that you can’t evaluate linebackers behind a computer screen.
When I saw Ansel play against Southgate Anderson, he was right on-par with his film. At his best, Ansel anticipates and attacks run plays. There are several instances where he’s able to shoot a gap and earn a quick tackle / TFL, but there are just as many where Ansel takes a bad angle or reads the play incorrectly. Great effort- I love that Ansel is a passionate football player and he’s a Division 3 prospect in my book.

I really like what I see from Ansel and hiss highlights so far this season. He is a versatile LB who can read and diagnose a play quickly and fire off to make strong tackles for minimal gain. On inside runs, he flows to the hole and is able to fight through blockers to make the stop. On outside runs and screens, he flies to his spot and make sure open field tackles by breaking down and staying balanced. I think D3/NAIA teams would benefit greatly with this kid on their defense.
