The updated 2022 player rankings to include 138 players were released on Monday. Some players moved up or down in the rankings and 50 new players were added. I am going to do a review on the top six quarterbacks that are listed:
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="28670" first="Byrum" last="Brown"], Rolesville HS (No. 1 QB, No. 31 Overall)</strong>. We already had Byrum ranked amongst the top quarterbacks in the Class of 2022. [player_tooltip player_id="28670" first="Byrum" last="Brown"] stellar performance throughout the season propelled him to the number one spot. Byrum compiled 1,348 passing yards, 16 Passing TDS, 476 rushing yards, and 6 rushing TDS. Byrum delivered accurate passes mixed with running to gain yards throughout the season. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="28670" first="Byrum" last="Brown"]</strong> displayed leadership and poise in leading his team to the State 4AA Championship Game.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="130376" first="Skyler" last="Locklear"], Cleveland HS (No. 2 QB, No. 32 Overall)</strong>. Skyler has a strong arm and is an accurate long-ball passer. He displayed speed and quickness while running to gain yards. Skyler quickly accelerates past defenders in the open field. [player_tooltip player_id="130376" first="Skyler" last="Locklear"] sets up in the pocket and delivers passes with a quick release. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="130376" first="Skyler" last="Locklear"]</strong> displayed leadership and poise in leading his team to the State 3AA Championship Game.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="28645" first="Jahmier" last="Slade"], Dudley HS (No. 3 QB, No. 33 Overall)</strong>. Jahmier is an accurate passer on the medium and long range passes. He displayed a quick release on his passes in the pocket. Jahmier is a dual threat as runner who used quickness and bursts of speed to run past defenders to gain yards.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="141291" first="Lucas" last="Lenhoff"], Myers Park HS(No.4 QB, No. 49 Overall)</strong>. Lucas displayed a strong arm and is an accurate long-ball passer. He delivered passes on target while under pressure in the pocket. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="141291" first="Lucas" last="Lenhoff"]</strong> finished the season with 20 Passing TDS, 2 INT., while leading the conference in wins, yards, and touchdown passes.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="28659" first="Cameron" last="Kromah"], A.L. Brown HS(No. 5 QB, No. 54 Overall)</strong>. Cameron sets up in the pocket, drops back two steps and displayed a quick release on his passes. Cameron displayed good arm strength while delivering passes on target. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="28659" first="Cameron" last="Kromah"]</strong> showed good speed and the ability to accelerate past defenders in the open field.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="28571" first="AJ" last="Simpkins"], Christ School(No. 6 QB, No. 55 Overall)</strong>. AJ is a solid medium-range passer who will run to avoid being sacked. He sets up in the pocket to make accurate throws and throws on the run. AJ finished the season with 1,888 passing yards, while completing 68.8% of his passes. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="28571" first="AJ" last="Simpkins"]</strong> displayed leadership and poise in leading his team to win the State Private School Division-2 Title.
