Earlier this week, we presented New Mexico’s Top 10 2024 prospects (rising sophomores). Because we are blessed with so much young and promising football talent in New Mexico, the list only began to tell the tale. Here are 11 more 2024 prospects to watch in the fall: Kash Roberts, Clovis: Only two non-seniors touched the football on offense for Clovis in the spring – Roberts and new starting QB [player_tooltip player_id="134999" first="Milo" last="Acosta"]. Roberts got a taste of varsity football playing behind [player_tooltip player_id="26162" first="Jeston" last="Webskowski"], but he looks like the primary ball carrier for the Wildcats in 2021. Will Jordan, Clovis: Standing 6-foot-4, Jordan will combine with 2022 DE [player_tooltip player_id="134991" first="Jaden" last="Nigreville"] to give Clovis one of the top defensive end duos in the state. Certainly one of the tallest as Nigreville is also listed at 6-foot-4. Opposing offensive tackles will have their hands full on both sides of the line. Zack Petty, Eldorado: Eldorado needs a new quarterback following the graduation of [player_tooltip player_id="26222" first="Nick" last="Petty"], and Zack could be the guy. He saw extensive action in the final game of the spring, completing 8-of-17 passes for 136 yards and 2 touchdowns against Cibola. He’ll compete with [player_tooltip player_id="135326" first="Elias" last="Franco"] for the starting job. Dean Marquez, Atrisco Heritage: As a freshman in the spring, Marquez served as Atrisco’s backup QB behind rising sophomore [player_tooltip player_id="137892" first="Myles" last="Lane"]. Expect a spirited position battle in the fall. Jayden Ortiz, Atrisco Heritage: Another up-and-comer for the Jaguars. Caught 4 passes for 34 yards and 1 TD in the spring. He should have a larger impact on Atrisco’s passing attack this fall. Leading rusher Jaden Cowley is gone, but the Jaguars have the ingredients for a nice offense. Trel Griego, Farmington: Is he the quarterback of the future for Farmington? Grants transfer [player_tooltip player_id="26232" first="Brandon" last="Furbee"] should be the starting QB in 2021, but he’ll be a senior. After that, it could be Griego’s job. He saw limited action in the spring. Walter Woodward, Silver: Woodward stood out in the Silver secondary with 15 tackles in 3 games, showing signs of becoming a key playmaker on the third level of the Fightin’ Colts defense. Baylor Seabolt, Aztec: Emerged as a promising defender in the spring with 21 tackles in four games for the Tigers. Markus Attencio, Aztec: With 19 tackles in 3 games, Attencio is the second freshman to make an impact on the Aztec defense in the spring. Wyatt Gomez, Lovington: Gomez was previously the starting QB on Lovington’s freshman team, but now he’ll battle rising senior Ashton Aranda for the Wildcats starting job. Considering the Wildcats’ vast array of talent at wide receiver, the stakes are enormous. Kaleb Rodriguez, Loving: Rodriguez played on both sides of the ball during the spring and led Loving in passing with 137 yards. He led a contingent of Loving freshmen that played meaningful snaps for the Falcons. Loving could be a team to watch in Class 2A in the future. In fact, one of those other notable freshmen is. . . Elijah Fierro-Thompson, Loving: He rushed for a team-high 130 yards on 23 carries and caught 9 passes (another team high) for 113 yards in the spring, making him a legitimate dual threat player. W.D. Hyer, Raton: The Tigers should possess one of the best offenses in Class 3A in the fall, but Hyer is a key piece of an improving Raton defense. He had 16 tackles in 2 games for the varsity. https://twitter.com/chs_wildcats/status/1392163979980648454
