Eye Catching Performers Week 1 and 2: Two Way Threats/Specialists

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>With games going on all across the state we wanted to highlight a few that have caught our attention during weeks 1 and 2 of the season in <strong>Eye Catching Performers Week 1 and 2: Two Way Threats/Specialist!</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Kurt Smith (Hononegah – 2025)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In a week 2 win against Jefferson it was a big game for Smith with 6 tackles including one TFL.&nbsp; Also had 5 rushes for 79 yards and a pair of scores.&nbsp; To top it off he made 5/5 extra points as a kicker.&nbsp; Runs with physicality and has burst with the ball.&nbsp; Hits hole hard.&nbsp; Defensively. The linebacker stuffs in the run game.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Cale Kimbro (Mattoon – 2025)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The 6'3” 2025 two way athlete made an impact on both sides of the ball with his play on Friday against Olney.&nbsp; Recorded 6 catches for 60 yards offensively.&nbsp; Defensively he had 19 tackles, 1 forced fumble, and 1 fumble recovery.&nbsp; Middle linebacker with closing speed.&nbsp; Makes impactful plays and has good speed.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Adrian Ramirez (Joliet West – 2025)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This kicker/punter had a nice game with an onside kick for a recovery, field goal, a pair of PATs, and a couple of 50 yard punts.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1292815' first='Samuel' last='Gyimah'] (Rich Township – 2025)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Explosive two way athlete that contributed as a kick returner taking it to the house for a score.&nbsp; Also had a tough catch over the middle running out of the slot.&nbsp; At corner he displays nice instincts making plays on the ball.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1135479' first='Kaden' last='Rakers'] (Breese Central – 2025)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Rakers had 73 yards on 20 rushes for 2 scores against Highland along with a catch for 22 yards.&nbsp; Defensively he had 10 tackles.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='833296' first='Michael' last='Dellumo'] (Maine South – 2025)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Dullumo in week two contributed on both sides of the ball with 259 all purpose yards, a pair of touchdowns, and two interceptions on defense.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1292689' first='Daryl' last='Hunt'] (Elk Grove – 2025)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Hunt was impactful on both sides of the ball with 6 grabs for 105 yards.&nbsp; Also had 11 carries for 41 yards and a score.&nbsp; Defensively he had 5 tackles.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Markeith Taylor Jr (Curie – 2026)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The 6'1” fluid athlete plays corner and wide receiver.&nbsp; Very impressive DB with a pick, 3 tackles, and a pair of pass deflections this week.&nbsp; Also went deep for a touchdown catch on the offensive side.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Deaiden Arnold (Sullivan – 2025)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Arnold caught our attention with his physical style with explosive runs for 3 touchdowns on the ground while also making a bone crushing hit forcing a fumble on defense.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Connor Wilson (Bishop McNamara – 2025)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Wilson impressed in the kicking game placing a pair of punts inside the 10 yard line and driving a kickoff deep to put his defense in good position.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
