You may notice that we have a lower number of players ranked this time around. The reason? We want to take the next few months to see how things play out during camps, 7v7’s, etc. Some athletes dropped a few spots in the most recent rankings. The primary reason for the drop in ranking for those players is because of the top newcomers that were not previously ranked. We hit on some of the higher ranked newcomers in our 2022 Stock Risers article. Now we look at some of the more underrated newcomers that are now on our list.
No. 44 Adam Klenk Adam Klenk 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB Seneca | 2022 State NJ /LB/Seneca
Klenk has an offer from Navy. He solidified himself as one of the best two-way players in the state. He made 68 total tackles (22 solo) and sacked the quarterback nine times in seven games. Klenk also ran for 853 yards and three touchdowns on offense. He’s one of the best in the state at being able to effect the game on both sides of the football. We may have to revisit this ranking in a few months.
No. 20 Anthony Johnson Anthony Johnson 6'2" | 230 lbs | LB Neumann-Goretti | 2022 State PA /WR/Burlington
Johnson caught 23 passes for 675 yards (29.3 ypc) and eight touchdowns in seven games last season. I’m a little surprised that he doesn’t at least have an FCS-level offer. That should change in the next several months if colleges see what I’m seeing. He doesn’t have the high profile of the other wide receivers of offers. However, his production on the field stacks up against any of them.
No. 66 Jerome Edwards Jerome Edwards 6'0" | 160 lbs | WR Bayonne | 2022 State NJ /WR/Bayonne
Edwards caught 14 passes for 405 yards (28.9 ypc) and seven touchdowns in five games last season. That’s a lot of production for the limited amount of touches Edwards had during the 2022 season. We look forward to seeing how he fares on the prospect camp circuit in the upcoming months.
No. 45 Robby Mandel Robby Mandel 6'5" | 265 lbs | OL Ramsay | 2022 State NJ /OL/Ramsay
Mandel has offers from Bucknell, Fordham, Georgetown, Lafayette, Lehigh, UMass, and New Hampshire. Most of his offers are on the FCS level, but that could change if he’s able to get on college camps for prospect camps. Mandel is an excellent two-way player for Ramsay, playing both defensive tackle and offensive tackle.
No. 52 Jon Wyatt Jon Wyatt 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR St. Thomas Aquinas | 2022 State NJ /WR/St. Thomas Aquinas
Wyatt caught 23 passes for 584 yards (25.4 ypc) and eight touchdowns in seven games last season. He also put in a major work on the defensive side of the football as a cornerback. Wyatt caught five interceptions and made a major case to be considered an athlete in our rankings. We like his big-play capability on offense, so we’ll keep him at the wide receiver slot for now.
