Boys Town LB [player_tooltip player_id='1055705' first='Darien' last='Whitaker'] has had a tremendous summer as he emerged as one of the more sought-after prospects in the state. The Boys Town prospect, who was previously committed to Northern Iowa, has begun to catch attention as he's earned a 3-star status and received FBS offers from Kansas State, South Florida, and Washington State. Darien possesses elite size at 6'4" and 220 pounds, and he has solid length for his frame. He's very quick to read and diagnose his keys with a fast break on the ball and closing speed to get to his spot in a flash. Once he gets to the ball carrier, he does an excellent job breaking down for the tackle while using his massive frame to deliver some bone-jarring hits. Darien flows to the ball very well while maintaining himself clean from blockers at the line of scrimmage. Excellent range in pass coverage as well. Darien projects very well as a linebacker at the next level but also has the athleticism and instincts to be a versatile player on defense with his experience at multiple linebacker spots and safety. Excited to see how Darien's recruitment continues to unfold in the upcoming months!

Senior QB [player_tooltip player_id='518053' first='Noah' last='Shoemaker'] is back under center for the Haymakers as he looks to guide them to their first playoff berth since 2020. Noah is an exciting dual-threat QB who threw for 1,258 yards and rushed for 384 with 16 total touchdowns last season. When watching Shoemaker's tape, I was very impressed with how well he throws the deep ball and the accuracy/touch he can put on some of those passes. I watched him compete at a college camp this season, where he looked like a more refined passer with improved footwork and much more confident throwing to all levels of the field. Noah is very tough to bring down in the backfield, as he does an excellent job using his speed and athleticism to maneuver the pocket, evade the pass rush, and extend plays with his legs. He's a very shifty runner when he decides to take it himself, with some nice twitch to shake defenders in open space and will even drop the shoulder to go through a defender. Noah holds offers from Hastings College and Sioux Falls. A prospect to add to your radars ASAP!

Despite his smaller frame, Millard South's [player_tooltip player_id='318990' first='Aamir' last='Hill'] has already shown that he possesses big-time playmaking abilities. Coming over from Omaha Central, Aamir is an extremely versatile player who can be productive on offense, defense, or special teams. Offensively, he is at his best when he can receive the ball in open space and use his quick twitch to make defenders whiff on tackles. He's very effective in the slot, showing that he can be a reliable target in the short/intermediate range and find weak zones in coverage to give his QB an open receiver. Good acceleration, vision, and balance make him a threat to tack on extra yardage after the catch. Very smooth return man who finds and hits holes effortlessly. On defense, Aamir flashes great instincts in coverage, along with great range and ball skills from the safety position. He does an excellent job reading the QB's eyes and is quick to break on the ball. Hill is still waiting on his first offer, but with a new role on an explosive Millard South squad, it shouldn't be long before they start knocking!

Mitchell senior [player_tooltip player_id='1314072' first='Jackson' last='Jenkins'] is an under-the-radar mauler from Nebraska's panhandle who received a bump in the rankings in this update. Jackson was a key blocker on one of the top rushing attacks in Class C1 last season and a playmaker on the Tiger's defensive line. When watching Jackson's tape, I was impressed with the agility and lateral burst that he plays with. Jenkins flashed as a run blocker on pulling plays, showing how quick and light he was on his feet while also building up good speed before plowing through a defender. He reaches second-level blocks very well and will keep his eyes upfield, looking for more blocks to make. Good mean streak when engaged— always looking to finish his block in the dirt. Lots of upside on the defensive side of the ball as well. Overall, a true two-way trench warrior who could improve a roster's OL or DL group. Jackson reports an offer from Hastings College and should see that list grow with another solid season.
