The high school football in the state of Arkansas got off to a tremendous start around the Natural State. However, it is time to shift gears and focus on week 1 throughout Arkansas. In this article, we are going to highlight several prospects ready to explode this week. All are players to watch out for this season.

The Little Rock Christian rushing attack continues to open eyes. [player_tooltip player_id='1336821' first='Jackson' last='Ward'] is a running back that has continued to build off of the momentum he has from last season. Last week, Ward rushed for 161 yards and a touchdown against El Dorado. He has the potential to continue to build off of the performance this week. The Warriors take on Shiloh Christian this week. The Saints looked impressive on Friday night against Farmington. The matchup this week has the potential to be a great one and is a game to watch out for on Friday night.

Cole Bentz-Quarterback-Batesville-6'0” 175-Pounds-2026

Batesville signal caller Cole Bentz got off to a solid start against Searcy to begin the season. Bentz displayed impressive accuracy against the Lions. He was able to throw his receivers open. Bentz did a nice job of buying time in the pocket in order to make the throw downfield. Last week, he was 10 of 19 for 142 yards and 2 touchdowns. This week the Pioneers will travel to Newport to take on the Greyhounds. Bentz has the potential to put up some solid numbers through the air as well as on the ground.

[player_tooltip player_id='1220907' first='Jonathan' last='Johnson']-Athlete-Bentonville West-5'7” 170-Pounds-2025

The Bentonville West prospect had a tremendous performance on the defensive side of the ball Friday night. Johnson was all over the field for the Wolverines on Friday night. Bentonville West opened against 6-A defending state champions Greenwood. Johnson had 9 tackles and a forced fumble on Friday night. The road does not get easier this week. The Wolverines will play host to Cabot this week. I look for Johnson to continue to open plenty of eyes on the defending side of the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='771990' first='Hunter' last='Warren']-Running Back-Booneville-5'9” 155-Pounds-2026

[player_tooltip player_id='771990' first='Hunter' last='Warren'] and the Booneville Bearcats opened against a tough Poteau team last week. Booneville earned a hard-fought victory 14-10. During the course of the game, Warren had strong performances on both sides of the ball. He uses his speed to his advantage and explodes through the rushing lane. Meanwhile, on the defensive side of the ball, he plugs rushing lanes and hauls down the ball carrier quickly. Booneville takes on Ozark this Friday night. The Booneville and Ozark matchup is always a great game, and this season should not be any different.

[player_tooltip player_id='928532' first='Kellen' last='Wrona']-Defensive Line-Bentonville-6'2” 335-Pounds-2026

[player_tooltip player_id='928532' first='Kellen' last='Wrona'] is a force on the defensive side of the ball for the Bentonville Tigers. Wrona does a great job of drawing double teams, and he gave Tulsa Union plenty of trouble last Friday. He plugs up the rushing lanes with impressive effectiveness. Wrona will use his power to drive the opposing blockers backward. Bentonville plays Conway this week in what could be a possible playoff preview. Wrona is a player to watch out for this season.
