We’ve received a ton of tape to watch since we launched the “Prospect Index,” and we are always excited to watch some new tape. Let’s dive into some of the most recent submissions who stood out.
Cooper Stroud Cooper Stroud 6'1" | 210 lbs | LB Hartfield Academy | 2022 State MS | 2022 LB | Hartfield Academy
At 6’1″ 210, Cooper Stroud Cooper Stroud 6'1" | 210 lbs | LB Hartfield Academy | 2022 State MS has great size for the modern day linebacker. He demonstrates good athleticism in the open field and can play sideline to sideline. Stroud routinely drops into coverage and can bait the quarterback into easy mistakes. When he’s not in coverage, he is excellent on the blitz and can disrupt passing lanes with his length. Stroud tackles well in the backfield and uses his speed to get there quickly. This guy is a turnover machine. If a receiver catches the ball, he is able to to jar the ball loose for a big time fumble. Ball player. Really like this guy and surprised he doesn’t have more going on.
D.K. Harris D.K. Harris 6'3" | 310 lbs | OL Clarksdale | 2022 State MS | 2022 OL | Clarksdale
A 6’3″ 310 lineman, D.K. Harris D.K. Harris 6'3" | 310 lbs | OL Clarksdale | 2022 State MS is another undervalued member of the Clarksdale team. Harris plays tackle right now, but projects best inside as a guard. He bends well into his stance and doesn’t have a ton of lower body stiffness to him. In pass protection, Harris plays some of his best ball. He can anchor and mirror his defender, using his strength to generate a strong first punch on his target. In the run game, Harris has the athleticism to pull and work to the next level well. He can get hands on his defender and open up a hole for a back to get through. Look for him to have a big offseason in the weight room and have a dominate senior campaign.
Ruffin “] | 2023 DB | Neshoba Central
A young safety starting for a good Neshoba Central team, Ruffin has the size and athleticism to be a problem for the next two seasons. Ruffin stands at 6’1″ 175 and has the ability to come down and play physical football in the box. In pass coverage, Ruffin has solid hips and can cover a lot of ground quickly. He has good make up speed if he gets beat over the top and can jar the ball loose using his length. Ruffin breaks on the ball well and is patient when he is the over the top zone defender. Against the run, Ruffin will fill rushing lanes and bring down the ball carrier. High upside with two seasons left.
Majaiven Thomas Majaiven Thomas 5'9" | 150 lbs | DB Southaven | 2022 State MS | 2022 DB | Southaven
Although he isn’t the biggest, Majaiven Thomas Majaiven Thomas 5'9" | 150 lbs | DB Southaven | 2022 State MS is a quick twitched corner who teams do not like throwing towards. Thomas is a versatile player who frequently lines up at slot receiver. He shows good speed in the open field and can make people miss as well. As a defender, Thomas has good ball skills and will come up and make a tackle versus the run. Thomas plays his best ball in zone coverage, but is capable of playing off man as well. Look for him to have a big senior year at his new school.
Michael Anderson Jr. | 2022 OL | Adams County Christian
Michael Anderson spent the last season playing at Trinity Christian School in Texas. If that name sounds familiar, that is because Jackson State Head Coach Deion Sanders was the offensive coordinator there! Similar to Coach Prime, Anderson made the move to Mississippi and is now enrolled at Adams County Christian. The 6’1″ 280 lineman was quite the mauler last season. In a run heavy offense, Anderson frequently opened up holes and dominated defenders across from him. He has natural strength and will bully whoever is lined up across from him. Anderson also has the athleticism to play in space as a puller or in the screen game. Love this guy’s athleticism and attitude. Will be a college prospect in no time.
Tramony Little Tramony Little 5'7" | 180 lbs | RB Yazoo County | 2022 State MS | 2022 RB | Yazoo County
Tramony Little Tramony Little 5'7" | 180 lbs | RB Yazoo County | 2022 State MS is an exciting player to watch. He isn’t the biggest, but he sure can run. Little has quick feet and can make defenders miss with ease. He is able to stay upright through contact and gain extra yards after he should be on the ground. Little has good speed and burst in the open field and can find the correct hole well. In the pass game, Little can block incoming ends and backers efficiently. Should be due for a big senior season.
