District II doesn’t have nearly the depth that District I presents in the class of 2022 but it does have a pair of top-notch prospects and some quality depth.
Leading the way in District II is unsurprisingly, Berwick Senior High School. The powerhouse program has three of our top class of 2022 prospects in the district including linebacker Tahsjee Taylor Tahsjee Taylor 6'3" | 205 lbs | LB Berwick Senior | 2022 State PA .
No.34 LB Tahsjee Taylor Tahsjee Taylor 6'3" | 205 lbs | LB Berwick Senior | 2022 State PA – Berwick Senior
The top prospect in the class of 2022 for District II is Berwick senior linebacker Tahsjee Taylor Tahsjee Taylor 6'3" | 205 lbs | LB Berwick Senior | 2022 State PA . An athletic linebacker who shows really good athleticism with the ability to be a threat both against the run and the pass. He has a knack for finding the ball quickly and delivering punishing hits to opposing ball carriers. He shows good fundamentals in his tackling, rarely allowing ballcarriers to make any progress once he wraps them up. He has the potential to be a very good FCS linebacker with Group of Five potential as well.
No.70 TE Thomas Chernasky Thomas Chernasky 6'5" | 235 lbs | TE Western Wayne | 2022 State PA – Western Wayne
At 6-foot-5 and 230-pounds, Chernasky has good size and while he could use a few more pounds, that will come in time especially once he gets into a college program. He presents a nice-sized target in the middle of the field with consistent and strong hands. Can make plays in all parts of the field but isn’t scared of making catches with defenders around him. He doesn’t have great speed but has a nice stride that allows him to pick up valuable yardage after the catch. His blocking skills are good and do have room for improvement but the foundation is there. He projects well to an FCS level starting tight end with the chance to play at the Group of Five level.
No.213 ATH Ben Knorr Ben Knorr 5'10" | 180 lbs | ATH Berwick Senior | 2022 State PA – Berwick Senior
Most of his highlights are at quarterback (at least that we viewed). He doesn’t present as a quarterback at the next level in a traditional offense but does have upside in an option-based offense. He had quality arm strength with the ability to throw semi-deep passes when needed, he also shows decent accuracy. He does have quite a bit of upside on the ground, however, with good speed and agility that makes him quite elusive. With that, a position change at the college level to the potentially wide receiver could be in the cards for Knorr. He’s a very good athlete which will make him valuable and could also make him versatile at the next level. He projects to be a Division III player at this current point in time.
No.237 OL Tyler Swartz Tyler Swartz 6'3" | 265 lbs | OL Valley View | 2022 State PA – Valley View
To begin, it’s worth noting that Swartz does often go up against undersized defenders. That being said, there’s a lot to like in the Valley View offensive lineman. He shows a good, solid first punch at defenders and then physically overpowers them. He shows good foot speed and agility, allowing him to move around decently for his size. His balance usually is solid, at times he’ll lean forward but that’s a part of his game that will be able to be cleaned up and refined with more development. Overall, Swartz has a good foundation to build on as he continues to develop, he currently projects to a Division II / Division III prospect.
No.251 LB Aiden Mason Aiden Mason 5'10" | 210 lbs | LB Berwick Senior | 2022 State PA – Berwick Senior
Most of Mason’s highlights from this past season came from the offensive side of the ball, so it’s hard to speak on where he is defensive as a linebacker. That being said, Mason is a great athlete, and at 5-foot-11 and 215-pounds has quality size. He shows that he’s not afraid of being physical and plays with a tenacity that coaches love to see in their players. Again, it’s hard to say where he is in his development as a linebacker but as an overall player, his overall athleticism will be big for him going forward. We currently project him to be a Division II player.
No.271 RB Connor Schmitt Connor Schmitt 5'11" | 180 lbs | RB Honesdale | 2022 State PA – Honesdale
Schmitt is arguably the top running back in the district entering 2021. He doesn’t pass any elite traits necessarily but all around is a very good running back. He has good speed and shows the ability to be quite a bit elusive on his runs while also showing good vision on his runs in his ability to identify holes. He’ll need to get bigger to break more tackles but that will come in time. Projection-wise, he is likely destined for the Division II level but does appear to have some interest from FCS programs.
