While it was a tough year for all – with the pandemic dictating so much – the Falcons did make the playoffs, but finished 3-6. Not what head coach Tim Caffey and his football program had worked so hard for.
Losing to area powers like Treasure Coast and Stuart Martin County may have been expected, but the tough setbacks against Fort Pierce John Carroll, Fort Pierce Central and Auburndale have driven this program in the off-season.
Rather than dwell what happened against Eau Gallie in the playoffs, thinking of how the Falcons beat Sebring (49-46), will be a major factor during the next month.
With spring under way, there will be some very competitive practices and scrimmages to determine which prospects will emerge in 2021.
Among the rising senior (2022) class athletes include Javin Dames Javin Dames WR Jensen Beach | 2022 FL (S/WR, 6-4, 200). Covers a lot of ground at safety, starting to become a physical presence in secondary. Always around the ball. Has huge hands and has a knack for making big time plays during crucial times both offense and defense. Match Up nightmare at WR with 4.5 speed.
Other rising seniors to keep an eye feature Cedric Wilkins (Athlete, 5-10, 190 – 3.0 GPA), Austin Fitzhugh (Athlete, 6-0, 190 – 2.8 GPA), Austin Duchene Austin Duchene 6'1" | 190 lbs | ATH Jensen Beach | 2022 FL (WR/DB, GPA 4.0 AP student. Ranked # 1 in the 2022 Academic Class), Will Blackwell (LB/TE, 6-1, 195, High academic achiever ranked #3 in the class of 2022. 4.0 GPA AP STUDENT), Dom Velardo Dom Velardo LB Jensen Beach | 2022 FL (LB/RB, 5-11, 205, Ranked #7 in class of 2022 academically. 3.97 GPA) and athlete Jake Singleton (5-9, 170, A threat to score every time he touches the ball).
UNDERCLASSMEN WILL BE VERY TALENTED
In addition to the experience, talent and leadership that the rising senior class will have for the Falcons, keep your eye on a very impressive group of Class of 2023 (juniors) and 2024 (sophomores).
Among the athletes to keep an eye on include Class of 2023 standout Nate Caplan (LB/OC/TE, 6-3, 220 – 3.5 GPA) and Jamari Marshall (DB/WR, 6-0, 175 – a sleeper who has a very high football IQ).
The Class of 2024 boasts Dennis Palmer Jr. (RB, 5-10, 175 – Break -away speed, Tough runner between the tackles, willing blocker, good hands nightmare to tackle 1v1. Has it all, speed, balance, power, vision and he understands the game well) and Dylan Fatovich (CB/Athlete, 5-9, 165 – Outstanding athlete with the ball in his hands).
