Get 30% off your first billing cycle with code: OscarGalindo30 in the coupon code area.

The 2024 season is rapidly approaching, and as a way to start previewing it, I have decided to go district by district and choose a player from every team as a breakout candidate. The breakout candidates are players who are flying under the radar, young players biding their time, etc. These guys are set to make a big name for themselves in 2024, tap in NOW!!!

Bellevue East:

[player_tooltip player_id='518059' first='Dillon' last='Ginter'] | 2025 | ATH | Bellevue East | 5'10" 185 lbs

Hudl | Twitter

Here's a player who I'm surprised hasn't received a little more attention on the recruiting circuit. Bellevue East senior [player_tooltip player_id='518059' first='Dillon' last='Ginter'] is a versatile player who could find himself playing offense or defense at the next level and should make an impact on both sides of the ball for the Chieftains this season. Dillon had a great junior season in which he tallied 52 tackles, 4 TFLs, and a sack on defense. Dillon is a fiery linebacker who does an excellent job flying to the ball on each play. He plays his gaps very well and can fight off blocks to get to the ball. Ginter should also build on his 28 receptions for 282 yards and three receiving touchdowns, as he'll likely be the focal point in the passing game. He's a very reliable target who finds ways to get open and can consistently move the chains. With Bellevue East looking to field a young team, Dillon should be the perfect senior leader to take charge in that locker room.

Grand Island:

[player_tooltip player_id='1315005' first='Jalen' last='Warren'] | 2025 | WR | 5'9" 170 lbs

Hudl | Twitter

Big welcome to new Grand Island wideout [player_tooltip player_id='1315005' first='Jalen' last='Warren'], who is joining the Nebraska prep scene after moving from Odessa, TX. Although Jalen may be new to us, he has more than established himself as a dynamic playmaker after hauling in 47 receptions for 704 yards and 9 receiving touchdowns. Jalen's 4.49 (40-yard) speed will give the Islanders an explosive weapon that can stretch defenses vertically and get behind defenders as a true deep-ball threat. Warren also showed inside-outside versatility as he can be lined up in the slot or outside depending on matchups. Strong hands and tough through contact. The Islander's new coaching staff is going to have a lot of fun scheming up ways to get Jalen the ball.

Lincoln North Star:

[player_tooltip player_id='245876' first='Beaudree' last='Ball'] | 2025 | QB | 6'0" 190 lbs

Hudl | Twitter

This was a tough one because I believe Lincoln North Star's receiving corps is very underrated going into the fall. However, I ultimately picked senior QB [player_tooltip player_id='245876' first='Beaudree' last='Ball'] to have a breakout year after waiting for his shot. Beaudree is a player who has been making strides in his development every year since his freshman season and now looks to reap those benefits. Ball has been looking bigger and stronger this camp season and has impressed at the events I've seen him compete at. He's proven to have the arm strength to push the ball to all levels of the field and has picked up timing with his receivers to deliver the ball as accurately as possible. If North Star finds themselves back in the postseason, I would expect Beaudree's arm and leadership under center to have played a big factor in that.

Millard West:

[player_tooltip player_id='1085067' first='Matt' last='Erickson'] | 2027 | OL | 6'8" 285 lbs

Hudl | Twitter

The Wildcats are heading into a bit of a rebuilding year after seeing a very talented senior group graduate in May, and what better way to build than with a strong foundation? And boy, do they have quite the building piece in place with sophomore tackle [player_tooltip player_id='1085067' first='Matt' last='Erickson']. Matt is a towering offensive lineman who stands at 6'8" and 280 pounds. His impressive measurables and projected upside have already earned him a Power 4 offer from the hometown Huskers, and it's likely more will follow suit this fall. I don't have a ton of tape on Matt as of right now, but with some openings on the Millard West OL, I'm sure we'll be seeing plenty of him in year 2.

Omaha Northwest:

[player_tooltip player_id='1343410' first='Tyrese' last='Webster'] | 2026 | OL/DL | 6'4" 290 lbs

Hudl | Twitter

Junior OL [player_tooltip player_id='1343410' first='Tyrese' last='Webster'] was a nice surprise when looking over the Omaha Northwest roster for a breakout candidate. Right off the bat, Tyrese's listed size caught my attention immediately as he stands 6'4" and 295 pounds with good length to his frame. When watching Webster's tape, his raw talent and potential are very clear to see. He shows good strength in his upper body with a powerful base that he uses to anchor down. Tyrese is only going into his junior season, so there is still time to work on the details of his craft, but the sky is definitely the limit!

Omaha Westview:

[player_tooltip player_id='1059145' first='Grant' last='Ryan'] | 2025 | LB | 6'0" 195 lbs

Hudl | Twitter

Omaha Westview is a team full of players who are primed to have massive seasons in 2024. One player that I think will turn it up a level is senior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1059145' first='Grant' last='Ryan'], who led the team in tackles last year with 61 stops and 2 TFLs. When you watch Grant's junior tape, you see the type of linebacker that you hope to have leading your defense. He is smart at reading plays and communicating with teammates, fills his gaps very well, and has a great nose for the football. Along with being effective against the run, Ryan also showed solid fluidity when dropping into coverage, picking up receivers and backs crossing over the middle of the field. It's also worth noting that it seems Grant has bulked up a bit over the offseason, so watch out for a bigger, stronger version flying all over the field.

Make sure to follow @PrepRedzoneNE on Twitter and Instagram to stay up to date with all your Nebraska prep recruiting news.
