Balance.
That’s what’s going to set the top three schools in our historical player rankings apart. And that balance starts right here at No. 2 with South Pointe.
The Stallions haven’t had more than seven players ranked in any class. But they’ve had at least four in every class, except for 2027. They have one and there are only 62 rising sophomores ranked statewide.
South Pointe’s talent pool has helped lead the Stallions to a position among the state’s elite, with seven state titles including the 2021 championship, won in part with a group of seven ranked players.
Here’s a look at some of the guys who made it go.
SPOTS AT THE TOP
South Pointe’s 33 ranked players since 2021 include players from just about every level of the rankings, and the top is no exception. Eleven of those players have been ranked in the Top 60 of their respective classes, starting with WR O’Mega Blake (No. 11) and DB Jordan Mahoney (No. 47) in 2021. DB Quan Peterson (No. 51) followed in 2022, with DB DJ Barksdale (36) and DL AJ Miller (53) ranked in the Top 60 in 2023. Last season, No. 24-ranked Chris Dixon helped anchor the Stallions’ defensive line. That leaves five current South Pointe players ranked in the Top 60. More on them in just a minute.
DEPTH ACROSS THE BOARD
In the Stallions’ most recent state title season, 2021, Peterson was the highest-ranked player on the squad.in the class of 2022. That was also South Pointe’s most prolific group, and included players at DB (Chris McCullough, No. 322), OL (Jordan McVay, No. 216 and Josh Greenwood, No. 307), DL (Anquerrious Davis, No. 271), WR (Waymond Jenrette, No. 198), and QB (Zay McCrorey, No. 287). That representation across positons on both sides of the ball and deep into classes has been a hallmark of the Stallions throughout the years.
GOING FORWARD
The Stallions don’t seem to be going anywhere any time soon. They’ve got five guys ranked in the 2025 class, led by DB

Last season, he had 67 tackles with five for loss, five interceptions, 12 pass deflections, a hurry, and a forced fumble. Offensively, he threw two TDs and ran for two more, and caught three passes. His athleticism is off the charts. McMillon (pictured) is a transfer from Fairfield Central, where he threw for nearly 2,400 yards and 24 TDs last season. They’re joined by OL
