The early signing period and traditional signing day for the 2021 class have passed. But there’s still plenty of talent in the state of New Mexico searching for an opportunity to play college football, regardless of level. One of the state’s top 2021 prospects came off the board a couple of days ago when Artesia WR [player_tooltip player_id="26164" first="Braxton" last="McDonald"] accepted a PWO offer from New Mexico State. Here are our top 10 uncommitted 2021 prospects: [player_tooltip player_id="26185" first="Jeff" last="Davison"], Cleveland: Probably the most underappreciated player in the state, Davison’s recruitment may have changed for the better two days ago when he was offered a PWO opportunity by New Mexico State. After leading the Storm to the 2019 Class 6A title, Davison threw for 851 yards and 13 touchdowns in four games this spring. [player_tooltip player_id="26190" first="Sean" last="Hays"], Alamogordo: Who’s the state’s second best 2021 running back behind UNM-bound [player_tooltip player_id="26162" first="Jeston" last="Webskowski"]? You can make the argument it’s Hays, who rushed for 2,428 yards and 21 touchdowns in his final 15 career games for the Tigers. Hays certainly possesses the size (6-0, 210 pounds) to play at the next level. Joseph Herrera, Volcano Vista: After patiently waiting his turn to play quarterback, Herrera quickly shifted into the highest gear, throwing for a staggering 1,080 yards and 12 touchdowns in just 3 games. He has some JUCO offers along with Arizona Christian University, Culver-Stockton and Macalester College. [player_tooltip player_id="26175" first="Isaac" last="Gutierrez"], Centennial: Incredibly, one of the top 2021 wide receivers in the state has yet to be offered by anybody. Gutierrez, though, demonstrated this spring that he’s one of the top players at his position. JUCO may be his best option right now. Eventually, a four-year school at the Div. I or II level is going to get a heckuva player. Tyler Jenson, Cleveland: On a roster filled with stars, Jensen stood out this spring with his ability to rush the football. He had 162 rushing yards in the win over Centennial at Socorro. He holds offers from the University of Puget Sound and Chapman College. Has Div. I or II talent. Elijah Spaulding, Cibola: Spaulding and his Cougar teammates only played two games, but he made the most of his opportunity with 20 receptions for 206 yards and 3 touchdowns. Still waiting for his first offer. [player_tooltip player_id="26196" first="Tommy" last="Lujan"], Rio Rancho: Emerged this season as one of the top ball hawking defenders in the state. He was offered by Eastern New Mexico. However, his best option could come as a walk-on at New Mexico, where he could reunite with former Rams head coach David Howes. Connor Baca, Eldorado: Baca was an integral part of Eldorado’s offense this spring, rushing for 219 yards in three games. He’s been offered by Whittier College, Elmhurst College, University of La Verne and Muskingum University. He told Prep Redzone New Mexico that he’s engaged in discussions with several schools. Stay tuned. Terrell Hocker, Grants: Hocker emerged as one of the state’s top offensive weapons in the spring for the Class 4A Pirates, rushing for 731 yards and 8 touchdowns on 48 carries. That’s an average of 15.23 yards per attempt. Wow. But he’s still looking for a place to play at the next level. Simon Gay, Volcano Vista: Gay is a 6-foot-6, 248-pound tight end with good hands and mobility (4.6 in 40). Right now, he has offers from Concordia University, Hamline University, Detroit Christian and some JUCOs. Under-recruited? Definitely. [player_tooltip player_id="26172" first="Caleb" last="Carrillo"], Farmington: If somebody could be given the title of ’Class 5A Player of the Year,’ Carrillo would likely be the guy. He threw for nearly 1,200 yards and 21 touchdowns in five games for the Scorpions, which beat Mayfield in the 5A ’Bowl Game’ at UNM Stadium. [player_tooltip player_id="26173" first="Trevon" last="Dennard"], Cleveland: One of the Storm’s best wide receivers has offers from Culver-Stockton, Ottawa University and a JUCO program in Arizona while Colorado-Pueblo has expressed interest. https://twitter.com/_j1ff_/status/1378849571216838656 https://twitter.com/AlamogordoTiger/status/1381429804826824709 https://twitter.com/johnny_ix/status/1380590395030130697 https://twitter.com/Angrybirdfb/status/1380014452678922247 https://twitter.com/TylerJenson3/status/1371336947273068546
