Spring LBs Watch List

The offseason provides a great opportunity to further scout prospects, whether it be watching any additional film or watching players at events. Many prospects are putting in work this offseason. Georgia showcased many talented linebackers this past season. Today we are going to look at some promising linebacker prospects universities should keep up with this offseason. *This list is in alphabetical order. <hr /> [player_tooltip player_id="94024" first="Raul" last="Aguirre"], Class of 2023, Cedar Grove Aguirre is a well-rounded middle linebacker. Our 1st ranked linebacker in the class of 2023 is instinctive and plays downhill in the run game. Aguirre moves well and is a fluid runner. He has the strength to stand up blockers and ball carriers. Aguirre also has the traits to excel in coverage. <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2EhArr" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Highlights</a> [player_tooltip player_id="34025" first="CJ" last="Allen"], Class of 2023, Lamar County Allen is a promising interior linebacker. Allen reacts to the run quickly and crashes downhill. He displays a good burst when pursuing ball carriers. He looked a little raw in his sophomore season but possesses great potential. Allen is an excellent tackler. Allen takes smart pursuit angles. <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2Ei8sy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Highlights</a> [player_tooltip player_id="34037" first="Dwight" last="Johnson Jr."], Class of 2023, Dutchtown Johnson is a big inside linebacker from middle Georgia. He has good instincts and plays the run very well. He impresses when pursuing ball carriers. Johnson is a great athlete with good speed. He plays from sideline to sideline. His size is trending towards that of an ideal DI linebacker. <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2EnJ9g" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Highlights</a> [player_tooltip player_id="95473" first="E.J." last="Lightsey"], Class of 2022, Fitzgerald Lightsey is a fast linebacker. He runs a 4.5 40 and it definitely shows on the field. Lightsey does a fantastic job rushing the passer and playing run support. Comes downhill in a flash. He is a physical tackler. Lightsey bends his knees well in his stance. <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2EuHRU" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Highlights</a> [player_tooltip player_id="33863" first="Daniel" last="Martin"], Class of 2022, Marietta Martin is a fantastic outside linebacker. He is our 2nd ranked linebacker in his class. He is an efficient runner who moves smoothly. He changes directions with ease. Martin displays amazing technique. Martin is proficient at rushing the edge, playing run support, and playing in coverage. He hits like a hammer and pursues ball carriers with great speed. <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2EvrRs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Highlights</a> [player_tooltip player_id="34012" first="Denzel" last="Moore"], Class of 2023, Collins Hill Moore is a great young edge rusher. The Indiana commit has shown the potential to consistently pressure the quarterback in upcoming seasons. The outside linebacker is our 17th ranked prospect in his class. Moore possesses tremendous speed and stands out when pursuing ball carriers. He does not struggle to change directions. <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2BwLmj" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Highlights</a> [player_tooltip player_id="94022" first="Olan" last="Robinson"], Class of 2023, Newton Robinson is a talented inside linebacker. He plays fast and physical. Robison explodes off the line of scrimmage. At 6’2” and 220 lbs he possesses the ideal build of a DI linebacker. He excels playing run support and flies downhill. Robison can stand up ball carriers. Robinson moves very well and can change directions quickly. <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2ERtWm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Highlights</a> [player_tooltip player_id="33901" first="Aubrey" last="Smith"], Class of 2022, Buford Smith is a versatile linebacker, capable of playing from the interior and edge. He has an excellent first step off the edge, quickly getting into the backfield. Smith takes good pursuit angles. He is strong enough to stand up ball carriers. He has good instincts that help him in run support. <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2FDTQV" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Highlights</a> [player_tooltip player_id="33869" first="C.J." last="Washington"], Class of 2022, Cedartown Washington is a downhill interior linebacker. He plays both sides of the ball and plays with a ton of energy. Washington has shown growth with regards to his coverage skill this offseason. He excels at coming downhill and engaging ball carriers. Washington looks impressive when coming off the edge. <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2EjfZn" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Highlights</a> [player_tooltip player_id="95462" first="Donovan" last="Westmoreland"], Class of 2022, Griffin Westmoreland is a talented outside linebacker. The Georgia commit plays with a good stance and displays good knee bend. Westmoreland has good size and length for an outside linebacker. Needs to work on his pursuit angles. Westmore is an amazing tackler, making good contact on impact. Knocks ball carriers backward. <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2ENuWX" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Highlights</a> [player_tooltip player_id="95146" first="Jaron" last="Willis"], Class of 2022, Lee County Willis is an athletic linebacker. Lee County uses him as a linebacker and safety hybrid. He shines when playing the run, as well as, in coverage. Willis looks to have a good understanding of coverages. He punishes ball carriers on impact. Active and causes havoc all around the field. He is our 10th ranked prospect in his class. <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2EPuap" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Highlights</a> [player_tooltip player_id="34013" first="Shakai" last="Woods"], Class of 2023, Douglas County Woods is an impressive young middle linebacker. He plays with good physicality already. He has a solid stance and plays under his pads. He has the ideal size and length for the position. Would like to see him eliminate false steps.
