About Samarae
Expert Analysis

Samarae is my #1 DB in this class, but #3 when you factor in other likely DBs who I put in the “ATH” category.
Yes, Samarae is ranked ahead of some DBs with division 1 offers. Why? Because he has better tape than all of them, performed extremely well at a recent camp, and has good testing numbers.
Strengths
- Great athletic traits
- Far more explosive than most DBs
- Good ball skills
- Plays slot DB- a lot of great run stop highlights
- Good ball skills
Weaknesses
- Can force more INTs
- Tends to lose a step when WR makes cut
- Needs to have faster feet
Saw Samarae at our Prep Redzone camp. Easily won DB MVP. Good man corner. Good run stopper. Really hard to nitpick his game. Could have faster feet and change of direction, but once he does change direction, he’s explosive enough to make up that ground. He also has longer than average arms than go up and swat balls.
Just speaking on skill, Samarae should be a MAC prosepct.

For being at King, I would have expected the D1 teams to be on him by now. Am I missing something? Since the D1s haven’t offered yet, I’d fully expect Samarae to go D2.

Considering his testing numbers and performance at our Stock Up showcase, Samarae definitely has the skill to be a Division 2 defensive back.
Across the board, he had above-average testing numbers and several great 1on1 reps. Not bad for someone who lined up at OLB all season. That said, I don’t know how much schools will value or devalue him because of his in-season position. My take is that as long as Samarae continues to perform well at off-season camps, he’ll almost certainly earn D2 offers. If he performs a little worse, he still should be able to earn D3 offers.
