On Campus: Clover Blue Eagles

<p>Lightning shortened the conclusion of the Clover Blue Eagles 2024 spring practice session, but we were on hand for about 45 minutes of action and here are some of the quick hits from the session.</p>

<p>We watched wide receiver <strong>Myles Grayson </strong>for a few snaps during the individual period and he looked smooth with his route running and did a nice job of staying in bounds on the out pattern. <strong>Brody Sanders </strong>also made a nice catch in the middle of the field during the indy period before the scrimmage began.</p>

<p>Quarterbacks <strong>Aaron Shealey </strong>and <strong>Brody Woolbright </strong>both took snaps with running back <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1012627' first='Landon' last='Stone'] </strong>in the backfield. Stone did get his carries and looked strong as a runner early and ran hard in the hole. Shelay showed some athletic ability on one play following a big loss of yards play where he was able to scramble and get the first down. Woolbright showed an ability to move the pocket and connect on some play action passes. [player_tooltip player_id='402485' first='Cameron' last='James'] did a good job of catching the ball on a shallow and getting up field quickly. James has a big frame who is tough to tackle. We expect that to continue into the fall.</p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1603816' first='Grady' last='Stone'] </strong>came out during one series and had a strong run and showed off speed in the process. On defense, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1820491' first='Damenion' last='Talford'] </strong>and <strong>Keegan Pike </strong>did a nice job of rallying to the ball to make a tackle on the run play. <strong>Peyton Root </strong>had a really good tackle in the hole on Stone. He will be a guy to watch in the fall. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1743683' first='Carson' last='Pinti']</strong> made an impressive tackle for loss, plugging up the hole where the run was supposed to go. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='995603' first='Brody' last='Rowan']</strong> affected the throw of Woolbright and hit him to get the defense off the field on a fourth down play.</p>

<p><strong>Haven Maddox </strong>connected on his one field goal attempt.</p>

<p>Clover will open the 2024 season at home against Julius Chambers out of Charlotte on Friday, August 23.</p>
