Armoni Weaver Armoni Weaver 5'11" | 170 lbs | ATH Westside | 2025 State SC , Westside
Weaver is a dynamic return guy, an excellent receiver, and a fantastic defensive back. He’s made his mark in all three facets of the game, and the Byrnes transfer immediately makes the defending 4A champs better wherever he lines up. He’ll draw some favorable comparisons to Josh Williams Josh Williams 5'11" | 175 lbs | WR Westside | 2024 State SC , last year’s do-everything guy for Westside. He’ll plug straight into that role.
Chamarryus Bomar Chamarryus Bomar 6'0" | 180 lbs | ATH Westside | 2025 State SC , Westside
Bomar, like his brother Weaver, is a Byrnes transfer who has done a little bit of everything. He was a lockdown DB and a clutch receiver for the Rebels, and he’s athletic enough to play QB, something he did particularly well in short-yardage situations. He’s another guy the Rams can turn to for help in a variety of ways.
Abijah Webb Abijah Webb 5'11" | 200 lbs | ATH Pendleton | 2025 State SC , Pendleton
Webb did most of his damage for the Bulldogs as a receiver last season, with more than 1,100 yards, 80 receptions, and 15 touchdowns. He’s also a dangerous returner, and spent some time as a lockdown corner, with three interceptions and six pass deflections in 2024. He’s got good size and speed, and is capable of contributing wherever the Bulldogs need him.
Brock Feinberg Brock Feinberg 6'1" | 230 lbs | ATH Wando | 2025 State SC , Wando
Feinberg is a standout on both sides of the ball for the Warriors, and seems primed for a big season. He’s a two-way starter, has incredible speed and change-of-direction capabilities for his size, and has dropped 20 pounds to likely play somewhere around 215 this season. He’s a force on defense, and could be an even bigger part of Wando’s offensive plan.
Jameson Wilson Jameson Wilson 5'11" | 185 lbs | ATH Westside | 2025 State SC , Westside
Wilson is one of several guys for the Rams (see above) who can pretty much just be listed as “football player”. He absolutely filled up the stat sheet for Westside last year. He notched a carry, a reception, and returned punts, but he made most of his mark on defense. Wilson had 111 tackles, four tackles for loss, a sack, a fumble recovery, and a forced fumble.
TEN RISING STARS
Calvin Choice Calvin Choice 5'9" | 160 lbs | ATH Spartanburg | 2025 State SC , Spartanburg
Choice (pictured) played a bunch of positions for the Vikings out of necessity last season. This year, they’ll get to pick where he contributes the most, which is going to be a problem for opponents.
Acie Hatfield Acie Hatfield 5'11" | 170 lbs | ATH Christ Church | 2025 State SC , Christ Church
Hatfield is listed as a safety for the Cavaliers, but his versatility allows him to play in a couple of spots. He’s one of five Christ Church players with Division I offers already, and the move to 3A will open eyes even more.
Justin Purvis Justin Purvis 5'8" | 175 lbs | ATH Marlboro County | 2025 State SC , Marlboro County
Purvis is coming off of two straight seasons of more than 1,000 all-purpose yards. With a new coach and presumably a new system, Purvis is likely to be a commodity that’s very well known, and very heavily used.
Karmello Jones Karmello Jones 5'9" | 175 lbs | ATH Cross | 2025 State SC , Cross
How good is Jones? Well, he led the region champion Trojans in rushing, on a team where three backs rushed for at least 600 yards. He was also among the team’s leaders in tackles and sacks, and filled up the defensive stat sheet. And he’s a special teams demon, both on returns and on kick and punt coverage.
Kentrell Brown Kentrell Brown 5'10" | 170 lbs | ATH Wagener-Salley | 2025 State SC , Wagener-Salley
Brown took on a bigger role in the War Eagles’ offense last season, and it paid off for Wagener-Salley. His season included a 354-yard game to set the school record, and he continued to be dominant on the defensive side of the ball. He’s got plenty of speed, and he excels after contact.
Branden Broadwater Branden Broadwater 5'9" | 160 lbs | ATH Carolina Academy | 2025 State SC , Carolina Academy
Broadwater is a bright spot for the Trojans at both slot receiver and defensive back. He’s fast, and he’s able to go make plays downfield and be a reliable possession guy as well. Defensively, he might be Carolina’s best in coverage.
KJ Smith KJ Smith 5'7" | 170 lbs | ATH Dutch Fork | 2025 State SC , Dutch Fork
Smith’s got blazing speed, and he’s a shifty route-runner for the Silver Foxes, returning punts as well. He also contributed at RB for Dutch Fork, and took a couple of snaps under center. With a number of top contributors departing to graduation, Smith’s role should increase this season.
Zoom Jackson Zoom Jackson 5'7" | 140 lbs | ATH Lamar | 2025 State SC , Lamar
Jackson’s nickname ought to tell you a little bit about the way he plays. He does it all for the Silver Foxes, and does it at a high level with nearly 650 all-purpose yards, 33 tackles, two picks, and three pass deflections.
Xavier Dukes Xavier Dukes 5'8" | 145 lbs | ATH Kingstree | 2025 State SC , Kingstree
Dukes played RB, WR, DB, and returned kicks for the Jaguars last season. He’s a quick guy who’s a downfield threat and who excels at making defenders miss in space.
Rafael Little Rafael Little 6'1" | 185 lbs | ATH Seneca | 2025 State SC , Seneca
Little’s played all over the field defensively for the Bobcats, at OLB, Safety, and Nickel, while playing RB as well. He’s fast, he’s physical, and he has a knack for finding the football.
FIVE DARK HORSE CANDIDATES
Zayvion King Zayvion King 5'11" | 190 lbs | ATH Ninety Six | 2025 State SC , Ninety Six
King gave the resurgent Wildcats a huge boost last season, and will have a chance to build upon a fantastic start thanks to his speed and athleticism.
Elijah Huggins Elijah Huggins 5'7" | 165 lbs | ATH Powdersville | 2025 State SC , Powdersville
Huggins is a true burner at receiver, and an equal threat at returner. The Patriots are completing a re-load from a historic run, and he’ll be an integral part.
Justin Lathon Justin Lathon 5'11" | 185 lbs | ATH Belton-Honea Path | 2025 State SC , Belton-Honea Path
All Lathon did when called on to take reps at RB last season was to allow one of the state’s top rushing attacks to function without missing a beat. He’ll be even better as he’s feaured even more.
Tray Wilson Tray Wilson 5'9" | 175 lbs | ATH Central | 2025 State SC , Central
Wilson can be a focal point for the Eagles. He notched nearly 1,500 all-purpose yards as a junior, and seems ready for an even bigger breakout.
Dylan Dale Dylan Dale 5'9" | 145 lbs | ATH Crescent | 2025 State SC , Crescent
Dale was among the Tigers leaders in passing, rushing, and receiving in 2023, and brings a unique set of skills and athleticism every time he steps on the field.
With so much talent seeing the field at so many different spots, there’s no wonder that the Athlete position is loaded in the 2025 class. These guys – and a bunch more – will be fun to watch during the 2024 season.
