Mason Carkner
About Mason
Expert Analysis
Cory Lemer | Prep Redzone Scout
Standing at 5’10” 160 pounds, Carkner has an undersized frame for the QB position. The Ravena/Coeymans/Selkirk QB may look to add 10-15 pounds of good weight to improve his frame for the position.
Carkner plays both QB and SS but projects as a QB. Watching his tape against Schalmont, He has a solid IQ and a can read a defense. His strong suits are RPO/Option games as he benefits in using his legs and creating plays on the run.
Carkner is a solid QB out of Section 2 who is dynamic and has skills needed to succeed as a QB.

Carkner who is an effective two-way player for Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk may not have lit up the state sheet from the quarterback position but he was effective as both a runner and a passer and helped his team to a 12-1 record. Carkner will be taking over the QB position full-time after being a backup reserve QB to one of Section II’s top senior QBs Kaden Potter Kaden Potter QB Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District | 2024 NY . Carkner shows on film good athleticism in his defensive tape and will be a dual-threat type of player at quarterback. He showed good poise for a player who did not have a ton of reps at the position and was not afraid to trust his arm to make throws in traffic. Intrigued to see what Carkner can do taking over the reigns this season.
