Archie Jones Archie Jones 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB CBA-Albany | 2026 State NY is my CBA-Albany X-Factor. The Brothers QB, is the leader of this squad on offense and in the two loses this season had below-average games. In both teams first matchup, Jones was limited, due to terrible weather. The X-Factor for the Brothers is letting Jones air the ball out, and connect with guys like Toher, “Pop”, and Vogel as he has all season. I expect Jones to have another solid night throwing the ball, but this will be the X-Factor, in whether the Brother’s advance to the Championship game.

Jones had a clean night under center. The Brother’s QB, I don’t believe had an incompletion. In the pocket, Jones looked poised and focused. His eyes were locked downfield, as he looked to create a play on each possession. Archie had over four TD’s in just the first half, and did so with a quick release and good accuracy throughout the game. CBA-Albany played backups in the second half, so Archie’s day ended at Halftime.

He excels down the field with throws 30+ yards or more. His mechanics are solid and show an understanding of delivering a solid ball.

Jones is a polished QB in need of minimal work to mechanics and footwork. He has the ability to succeed at the next level.

Jones led CBA-Albany to the state title game this year and earned tons of post-season accolades, but the tape is why he lands at #1 in the quarterback position in our rankings.

Jones does many things well, but what stands out on tape are three traits that you rarely see with HS quarterbacks, especially as consistently as you see them with Jones.

Pocket Awareness & Movement: Jones has an incredible feel for pressure in the pocket; his ability to use his athleticism to escape or move and reset his feet is better than anyone in this class.

Anticipation: When you watch tape from each game, there are multiple throws every game that Jones makes where most QBs wouldn’t pull the trigger. He understands throwing guys open and is not afraid to test coverage by making throws at all field levels. He targets open space and does so efficiently; not many high school quarterbacks have this type of feel for the game, and if they do, they tend to turn the ball over often.

Touch: You see a wide variety of throws on tape, but Jones makes a lot of really nice touch throws or level 2/level 3 balls. These passes have some air on them and sometimes require being off-platform or making throws with just the upper body. There is also an accuracy element to touch, since these throws often don’t involve traditional mechanics. The accuracy aspect of these touch throws for Jones comes more naturally than with other QBs. Nothing looks forced or off; instead, you get a smooth release and catchable ball down the field.

Jones takes a big step from a 3-headed monster QB situation to having the spot all to himself. He put some great stuff on film last season and showed the type of arm talent that can make throws at all three levels of the field. The smaller sample size was enough film where I was confident in him being the #1 QB in the class because everything looks so natural when you see him play. His overall ranking may be lower as this whole QB class has a lot to prove but Jones right now is leading this group as one of the more dynamic playmakers in the state.

Jones takes the spot as the top QB in the state and, after a strong sophomore season, will have even more on his shoulders with the graduations of Jake Iacobaccio and his brother Donald Jones, who were two of CBA-Albany’s top playmakers. Jones is a dual-threat prospect who showcases the ability to escape and extend plays consistently.

Jones has a smooth release and can make throws at all three levels of the field. His film shows a player equal parts athlete and thrower and can be utilized in the designed QB run game.
