The state of Texas is known for producing elite high school talent year in and year out. That is no exception this year. However, because of the size of the state and the amount of high schools, players are bound to fall under the radar in the recruiting process. These three players haven’t received the kind of recognition that some of their peers have, but their recruiting process are beginning to heat. [player_tooltip player_id="117920" first="Richard" last="Torres"] | 2022 QB | Southside HS If a college program is looking for a gunslinger to run their offense, there is a good chance that the prospect that they are looking for plays high school in Texas. Southtside’s [player_tooltip player_id="117920" first="Richard" last="Torres"] is a prospect that is beginning to heat up on the recruiting trail. Standing at a reported 6-foot-6 and weighing 210 pounds, Torres possesses an elite frame that helps him see over the defense and find the open receiver. Additionally, Torres has a strong arm that allows him to make just about every throw on the football field. Torres is not a speedster, but he has more than enough athletic ability to make plays out of the pocket. College programs are starting to take notice of the 2022 quarterback from San Antonio. Torres has reported offers from Kansas State, Nebraska, San Diego State, Tulsa, and UNLV within the last month. Expect more offers to roll in for Torres as more coaches watch his tape.
Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi | 2022 QB | Aledo HS
Aledo High School is among the top football programs in the Lone Star State. The Bearcats are consistently competing for state championships and are always players to high-major college football. 2022 quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi looks to be next in line in Aledo’s Division-1 pipeline. Fowler-Nicolosi stands at a reported 6-foot-3 and weighs-in at 200 pounds. He is the quarterback from an elite program in Texas. His size and his pedigree will automatically catch the attention of college football programs. Then, you add in the fact that he threw for 1,600 yards and 18 touchdowns while completing 74 percent of his passes as a junior. As a result, the Aledo quarterback is on fire on the recruiting trail. Recent offers for the rising senior include Arkansas State, Arizona, and Pittsburgh. The state of Texas is loaded as usual at the quarterback position, and Fowler-Nicolosi is among those. He will likely have several suitors by the time that he is ready to make a college commitment. Jaylen Jenkins | 2022 RB | Allen HS Similar to Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi, Jaylen Jenkins is a major contributor at one of the most elite programs in all of Texas. Jenkins plays running back for the Allen Eagles, where he split time with 2021 Hawaii signee [player_tooltip player_id="60270" first="Jordan" last="Johnson"]. With Johnson out of the picture, Jenkins is primed for a big senior campaign in North Dallas. Jeknkins is a little undersized at 5-foot-8 and 180 pounds, but he makes up for some of that with legit quickness and impressive contact balance. Jenkins is a patient runner that also displays good vision. He sees the hole open up and immediately hits it. The Allen running back is not the fastest player on the football field, but he possesses more than enough quickness and acceleration to get to the second level. Programs such as Hawaii, Tulsa, and Western Kentucky have recently extended offers to the rising senior. Jenkins has an opportunity to turn some heads in the upcoming season as the lead back for the Eagles.
