Continue ReadingI’m out of the loop on all things New Jersey football, yet this name rings a bell. I remember seeing Willingboro’s Lamar Best Lamar Best 6’0″ | 175 lbs | QB Willingboro | 2026 State NJ work at one of Al Pop’s middle school camps a couple of years back. Happy to see and hear that Lamar Best Lamar Best 6’0″ | 175 lbs | QB Willingboro | 2026 State NJ is thriving early into his HS career. Ranked as the third-best passer in his class, Best has obviously impressed the PRZ NJ brass enough to earn a ranking that high. I won’t break down his film for this preview, yet I can’t go without mentioning how his coaches, as well as other coaches, speak of the sophomore quarterback. I hear chatter about his overt confidence, I hear chatter about how advanced this young man is in terms of decision-making, reading a defense, poise in the pocket. Sources I trust have said nothing but positive things about Best. I’m excited to personally watch him under a microscope at this event.

Again, I’m unfamiliar with Jersey ball, yet this name, like Best, also rings a bell. A senior out of Toms River North HS, Tareq Council Tareq Council 6’3″ | 170 lbs | WR Toms River North | 2024 State NJ will be at the event, serving as an experienced pass-catcher at Best’s disposal. Back-to-Back State Champion, Council saw pre-Fall scholarship offers out of FBS/FCS schools alike. Council drew scholarship interest from the likes of Maryland, West Virginia, and Temple way back in 2022. Programs like Stony Brook. Delaware, UConn, and Coastal Carolina had their eyes dead set on potentially acquiring the big target, dating back to last Spring. Tareq placed inside the PRZNJ 2024 Top50, huge praise, yet he is still uncommitted to my knowledge. Has some recent basketball highlights posted on Twitter. Excited to see a young man of this caliber participate in our tournament.
Checked out Knighton’s Twitter, wasn’t too active. I did, however, check out his ranking on our NJ site. High praise from the NJ scouts, was recently ranked inside the top 40 of his class, Knighton placed one spot away from ranking inside the top five at his position (WR). Same class and school as Best, I imagine the two have developed a rapport over the past two seasons over at Willingboro HS. I took a quick peek into his sophomore tape, I’m immediately met with awesome production out of the 5’9, 160-pound wideout. 900 yards, double-digit scores (11), all on 47 receptions. Gaudy numbers from this electric athlete. He’s likely to tear through this 7v7. Excited to see him work.

5’10, unsure about his weight. Somewhat active on Twitter, a 2027 that doubles as a DB and back. Intrigued as to where he’ll play at this event. Doesn’t have a seasonal tape on Hudl, yet I’ll give him a pass for being a 2027. Our own Brendan Mankarious ranked him inside the top 100 after our most recent update. I’ll have my eyes on him, currently stationed at Notre Dame HS in Lawrenceville, NJ.

Was recently written about by NJ Scout Brendan Mankarious, as early as the beginning of the month. Intriguing size, he and Council will serve as two large targets Best can throw balls towards. A 2025 that is currently on the Watchlist, Brody Deiter Brody Deiter 6’2″ | 165 lbs | WR Rancocas Valley | 2025 NJ will attend the event repping Rancocas Valley Regional in Mt. Holly, NJ. Has a three-minute junior tape on Hudl that I peeked at. Rankable tape, starts off his film with many scores aligned at flanker. Hand-eye coordination and body control are calling cards. Will likely be on the receiving end of many deep shots, was so on tape. Here’s what Brendan Mankarious had to say about Deiter in a recent piece…rn
Brody Deiter Brody Deiter 6’2″ | 165 lbs | WR Rancocas Valley | 2025 NJ comes off as a deceptively sneaky wide receiver who is just good at playing football. Last fall Deiter turned in 43 receptions for 636 yards and 7 touchdowns, while also pitching in with 17 tackles on defense. Deiter gets several opponents to bite on his double moves. I attribute this to how hard he sells his routes and how he never stops moving his feet throughout his breaks. This often leads to busted coverages that leave him wide open, all alone. One for situational football, Deiter is willing to fight and extend for every last yard he needs and has shown that he can make falling, sideline catches. With the ball in his hands, I would surmise to say Deiter is a one move/cut and get-up-the-field-and-get-what-you-can type of player in the YAC space. Something I admired, in one clip a defensive back tried to father Deiter by attempting to out-physical him. In response, we see Rancocas Valley’s top target deliver that physicality right back in that defender’s grill. He is also an active blocker in the run game due to his constant scrapping and also appears to be the team’s punter, getting roughly 45 yards on his kicks. One thing I think that Deiter can benefit from is coming back to the ball when he is targeted on hitches, curls, screens, and comebacks. Given how he is constantly working his feet, I do not think that he will lose much speed, if any, by doing this, and the reward would be more space for him to work with to amass yardage.
Another prospect on our watchlist, this time a junior out of Rancocas Valley, a teammate of Deiters. Is on our database as a 2024, this will get fixed. 6’0, 165-pound DB/ATH, boasts a 3.5 GPA. Not much in terms of collegiate interest right now doesn’t mean he isn’t on someone’s radar, however. Utilized on offense much more than I would have imagined given his designation, I can see his two-way abilities transfer over to the 7v7 world well. I’ll provide a deeper eval post-event, Duana’s entire skillset can be utilized in this setting, I’ll be expecting any and everything.
