Canada 2024 Rankings Update: Biggest Risers Pt. 1

I doubled the number of prospects covered in the rankings and it now features several athletes committed to USports or NCAA programs. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The prospects below all made strong progress in their games. Garcia added bulk and strength to his game showcasing the ability to physically dominate his opponents. He was a high-impact player on both sides of the ball and excelled as a stand-up edge prospect. Garcia made progress athletically but as a defender showed much more refined use of hands and more discipline holding contain on the edge. MacCubbin rises from 45 to the 12 spot and makes the jump to #1 at his position. MacCubbin who will play at Guelph next season is listed as a WR but has the athleticism and ball skills that he could have played on either side of the ball at the next level. MacCubbin is a smooth athlete who shows burst and change of direction in open space. Uguak has a great bend and plays with really good pad level and violent quick hands. Uguak has some impressive defensive tackle film and I like how hard he plays and finishes plays with violence and physicality. McPhie is a dynamic athlete showing burst and long speed on tape with the ability to turn INTs and Returns into TDs and big yard gains. McPhie has great ball skills and his ability to locate and impact the catch point from the safety position is at a high level. DeGroot has elite length and a lean frame that defenders struggle to deal with. DeGroot has really good athleticism and almost moves like he is a tight end. His ability to knock guys back with his initial punch and maintain control of his blocks with length will translate to the next level and DeGroot showed throughout this past season in his film that he is one of the most talented prospects and has a special combination of size and athleticism. Lausch showed in his senior tape high-level upfield burst and the bend/flexibility to change direction and finish plays in the backfield. Lausch shows the ability to impact the run game eating blocks and using his lower body strength to maintain his gap responsibilities while showing the quickness and hand usage to be an impactful pass rusher from the interior.
