Outten is a Penn State commit, and he contributes as both a wide receiver and defensive back, but for this piece, we will look at him from an evaluation standpoint at the wide receiver position. He has recorded 25 catches for 561 yards and three touchdowns. For someone of his size, he is genuinely a playmaker. With no full highlight video available to me, I watched in-game clips of him where, at times, he has shown physical and also explosive skills. He also demonstrated the ability to take a little pass and make it into a long score in both touchdown receptions, either making defenders miss or breaking tackles to take it, plus 60 yards to the end zone. Outten has lined up in the wildcat and had good rushing yardage. He has the agility and “wiggle” to evade defenders after the catch and always finishes runs with power.

Four star athlete Matthew Outen from Norcom High School will be a receiver at the next level, but Greyhound fans can enjoy him at multiple positions for his senior campaign. Returning kicks and punts for the Greyhounds Outen is a dangerous man with the ball in his hands, so dangerous that has lead him to close to 30 FBS level offers and counting. Narrowing his list down to 6 schools including Penn State, Maryland and Virginia any fanbase can expect a young man with high character and skills both on and off the field.
