The novelty of having football back in the spring wore off in week two and now people are ready to take a deep look at these games instead of just being happy to be watching the sport.
Quarterbacks really came to play in week two and put on some impressive performances. The six quarterbacks listed below had excellent passing performances but also got bonus points for playing quality competition for their level.
Here were the top rushing performances in week two.
Below are six of the best passing performances in Southern California in week two.
Dylan Eldredge, Cypress, 2022
Eldredge transferred to Cypress in the 2020 offseason from Los Alamitos and had to compete for the starting quarterback position. He quickly stood out and earned the lion’s share of the snaps and is now the full-time starter. He completed 14 of 21 passes for 373 yards and three touchdowns for the Centurions in a win over Empire League foe Valencia of Placentia. He helped lead Cypress to a CIF championship appearance last season and if Cypress wants to have similar success, it will be largely due to Eldredge.

Daylen Pedroza, Orange, 2021
Pedroza has been a big name in the Orange County football scene for three years now and has been putting up numbers and wins for Orange. He threw for 441 yards which may have been a school record but Orange High is one of the oldest schools in the area and it’s tough to keep sports records. He also threw for five touchdowns and led the team in rushing in a win over La Mirada. Pedroza is a big lefty who also plays defensive end and moves very well for his massive frame. He had 39 touchdowns last season (23 passing, 16 rushing), completed 72 percent of his passes for 2095 yards and rushed for 816 yards. He has four offers, most recently from St. Francis University.

Stratton led La Jolla to a Division 3 championship as a sophomore last season and picked up right where he left off. The junior completed 72 percent of his passes for 258 yards and five touchdowns in a 49-12 win over Morse. As a sophomore he threw for 1,456 yards and 14 touchdowns and had a big offseason leading the 619 Dream Chasers to a National Championship at the Pylon 7-on-7 Tournament in Florida. He has offers from Florida International and Columbia and is being recruited by other Ivy League schools.

Cole Tannenbaum, Oaks Christian, 2022
Oaks Christian is loaded with big name college prospects and there may be another name to learn in Tannenbaum. The junior quarterback threw for 399 yards and three touchdowns in the Lions’ win over crosstown rival Westlake. He completed passes to six receivers and two of them had over 100 yards receiving. He stands tall in the pocket, has a quick release and is the quarterback for one of the best programs in the Southern Section. Tannenbaum should be getting some offers this summer.
