As teams continue to build their 2025 recruiting boards, we want to highlight juniors flying under the radar. These guys have proven to possess the talent to compete at the next level and should be targets to get on campus this offseason.

My first good look at cornerback [player_tooltip player_id='1059049' first='Gavin' last='Olson'] was seeing his big two-interception performance against Elkhorn North, which sealed their third straight trip to the state championship. Although some bigger names might get the headlines on the Bennington defense, Gavin's impact on the perimeter can not be denied. Olson ended the year with 31 tackles, a TFL, a whopping six interceptions, and a fumble recovery. Gavin is very smooth in coverage, especially with his backpedal and change of direction. He can pick up on what opposing receivers are trying to do and, on several occasions, looked like he was the one running the route. Great size and length for the CB spot. Olson is a top-tier ballhawk who is not afraid to attack the ball when it's in the air (6 Ints and 6 passes defended). Lots to like about this Gavin, who will have one more offseason/season in the Bennington prospect factory!

Junior [player_tooltip player_id='1059097' first='Dez' last='Smith'] saw himself have a monster breakout season in which he spearheaded a dominant Mitchell rushing attack. Dez ended his season with an impressive 1,363 rushing yards, 19 rushing touchdowns, 83 receiving yards, and a receiving touchdown. The first thing to pop out from Dez's tape is his angry, physical style of running. He plays with a very low center of gravity and possesses great balance to help keep him on his feet when absorbing contact. Dez is also a beast at keeping his legs pumping through contact, making him a tough player to bring down. Smith sees the field incredibly well and has the twitch to shift his way through traffic. He's also the type of player who won't hesitate to drop his pads to run through a defender when there isn't a clear lane. Solid speed and burst when coming around the corner (4.6 40-yard time). Smith was also a pivotal player on defense, racking up 20 tackles and an interception from the cornerback spot. Great hidden gem prospect from out in the panhandle!

Pius' [player_tooltip player_id='1105198' first='Nicolas' last='Steuter'] was a Stock Up Showcase standout, catching the attention of the PRZ scouts and coaches in attendance. Nicolas is a player who immediately passes the eye test with a sturdy 6'3" 240-pound frame and great mobility for his size. He played on both the offensive and defensive line for the T-Bolts, totaling 16 tackles and a TFL on defense in seven games. On defense, Nicolas showed to be effective as a 5-tech DE where he does a great job setting the edge against the run. He uses his lengthy frame to stonewall linemen while keeping himself separated enough to disengage from blocks and pursue the ball. Offensively, Nicolas flashed solid footwork and lateral quickness as he was able to latch on and mirror defenders very well. He is very efficient with his hand placement and showed that he can consistently win the inside leverage. Big summer coming up for Nicolas!

The 2025 class is scattered with great linemen possessing elite size, and few have the measurables of Centennial's [player_tooltip player_id='1048097' first='Paul' last='Fehlhafer']. Paul is a 6'5", 285-pound enforcer with top-tier length and strength that allows him to be a mauler in the trenches. On the defensive line, Paul does a great job using his size to create separation when rushing at the line of scrimmage. I had a limited film sample from Paul's junior season, so I'm hoping to catch him at a showcase or to see more game tape. Regardless, there's much to like about Paul and his high ceiling.
