There’s no getting around the fact that Crestview had some trying times during a 1-7 season during the pandemic in 2020.
Instead of dwelling on what last year was all about, head coach <strong>Tim Hatten</strong> and his Bulldogs – while they aren’t forgetting to those tough losses to Fort Walton Beach, Milton and Escambia, are playing on the positives.
If you want positives – how about the 21 current juniors who will be the heart and soul of this team? What about the 27 players who have earned a 3.0 GPA or better? Now, those are two things that this off-season will continue to be all about. Working hard in the classroom and getting the athletes college ready on the football field.
As this program heads for spring – they will do it with a deep Class of 2022 that includes prospects like <strong>Jesse Akins</strong> (OL/DL), <strong>Thaddeus Atchison</strong> (WR – 3.6 GPA), <strong>Brandon Blackshear</strong> (OL – 3.15 GPA), <strong>Chase Boydston</strong> – 3.89 GPA), <strong>Tison Breen</strong> (QB), <strong>Xavier Collins </strong>(WR/DB), <strong>Jonathan Daniel</strong> (LB – 3.42 GPA), <strong>Devin Harris</strong> (WR/DB – 3.9 GPA), <strong>Tre’von Harris</strong> (RB/LB), <strong>Jacquis Holliday-Dortch</strong> (WR/DB),
<strong>Kolby Jackson</strong> (OL – 3.22 GPA), <strong>Jahlein Mays</strong> (DL) and versatile (RB/LB) standout <strong>Alex Murray</strong> (RB/LB).
The rising senior class also features standouts such as <strong>Marcus Patterson</strong> (LB – 3.38 GPA), <strong>Johnathan Sanders</strong> (DL), <strong>Jamarian Speights</strong> (WR/DB – 3.35 GPA), <strong>Tyrell Stewart</strong> (LB), <strong>Raheim Studevan</strong> (DB), <strong>Brady Vann</strong> (PK – 3.38 GPA) and linebacker <strong>JaMarius Wilks</strong> (3.15 GPA).
With a very impressive group for the Class of 2023, the Bulldogs will have plenty of depth as they continue to build this program – on and off the field.
Among those rising juniors include <strong>Jace Andrus</strong> (LB – 3.27 GPA), <strong>Robert Bonevechio</strong> (OL – 3.21 GPA), <strong>Anthony Boyer</strong> (OL/DL – 3.87), <strong>Jerome Brazan</strong> (QB – 3.0 GPA), <strong>Cyrano Cano</strong> (LB), <strong>Michael Carson</strong> (OL), <strong>Jake Edwards</strong> (DL – 3.0 GPA) and <strong>La’Terion Hart</strong> (RB) offer this program some talent that will help this year – as well as into the future.
<strong>Marion Hawthorne</strong> (LB – 3.1 GPA), <strong>Noah Hensley</strong> (OL -3.31 GPA), <strong>KeShawn Holzendorf</strong> (OL), <strong>Ze’Shawn Hutchinson </strong>(WR), <strong>Jason Jones</strong> (QB), <strong>Peyton Knight</strong> (OL), <strong>Jayden Knox</strong> (RB/DL), <strong>Caleb Krumnow</strong> (DL – 3.38 GPA), <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="50163" first="Bryson" last="Martin"]</strong> (WR – 3.27 GPA), <strong>Cecil Purdue</strong> (WR/DB), <strong>Simeon White</strong> (DB – 3.6 GPA) and defensive lineman <strong>Cameron Whitaker</strong> (3.8 GPA).
Coach Hatten and this program also showcase prospects in the Class of 2024 who will step in and help in 2021 – as well as add depth and future players in this building process.
Among those rising sophomores are <strong>Jaden Appleby</strong> (LB), <strong>Andre Jackson</strong> (DB – 3.8 GPA), <strong>Daton Kolmetz</strong> (WR/DB – 3.0 GPA), <strong>Darryl Lowe</strong> (LB/RB), <strong>Will Mowery </strong>(WR/LB – 3.4 GPA), <strong>Nathaniel Nocher</strong> (QB – 3.1 GPA), <strong>La’Zarius Parks</strong> (RB – 3.85 GPA), <strong>Maddox Reeves </strong>(OL/DL – 3.25), <strong>Ahmaud Thomas</strong> (WR/DB), <strong>Isaiah Thomas</strong> (WR/LB – 3.63 GPA) and running back <strong>Randy Thomas</strong> will push hard this off-season to have a much-improved prospect in 2021.
