Here are a few things to know about this batch of updated rankings. The class is now up to 480 ranked players with over 300 of them having committed to play college football. No players were removed from the rankings and there were no changes among the Top 50 ranked players.
Here is the second of two reports today. This one features the top-ranked debuting athletes from the Northeastern part of the state. Each of these athletes has committed to play college football.
Expect more reports to come from scouts Matt Simpson and Wade Cargile which will feature new additions to the rankings from Southeast Kansas and the Wichita area.
Talan Browne Talan Browne 6'4" | 230 lbs | WR St. Thomas Aquinas | 2024 State KS , WR, 6’4”, 230, St. Thomas Aquinas (Louisiana-Monroe)
Browne debuts at No. 96. He St. Thomas Aquinas product is a physical tight end who can seal the edge as a run blocker and who is sneaky in the passing game. He has a nice pair of hands and can be a real threat in the red zone. He has signed to play with Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks.
Tyler Maslowski Tyler Maslowski 5'11" | 195 lbs | LB Blue Valley North | 2024 State KS , LB, 5’11”, 195, Blue Valley North (Washburn)
Maslowski debuts at No. 107 and parlayed his big senior season into a commitment to the Washburn Ichabods. He recorded a total of 108 tackles in nine games last season for the Mustangs. Nine of his tackles resulted in lost yardage and he also finished with two quarterback sacks and one interception. Maslowski and Brown could end up being on opposing defenses for multiple future Turnpike Tussles.
Johnnie Williams Johnnie Williams 6'1" | 160 lbs | DB Free State | 2024 State KS , DB, 6’1”, 160, Free State (Missouri Southern)
The Free State product enters the rankings at No. 113. He has also committed to a MIAA program in Joplin, Missouri. Williams can play defensive back or safety and can help out as a return man.
Wade Enman Wade Enman 6'3" | 285 lbs | OL Paola | 2024 State KS , OL, 6’3”, 285, Paola (Washburn)
Enman debuts in the Prep Redzone rankings at No. 122. He is one of several Kansas signees who are going to compete for playing time at Washburn. He is projected as an offense tackle, but he will be part of a class at Washburn that also includes offensive and defensive linemen Jaren Heim Jaren Heim 6'2" | 215 lbs | DB Washburn Rural | 2024 State KS , Josh Grimm Josh Grimm 6'5" | 315 lbs | OL Sabetha | 2024 State KS , Jacob Grimm Jacob Grimm 6'4" | 285 lbs | DL Sabetha | 2024 State KS , JC Heim JC Heim 6'3" | 225 lbs | LB Washburn Rural | 2024 State KS , Augustus Thuston Augustus Thuston 6'5" | 285 lbs | OL Chanute | 2024 State KS , Jamond Lane Jamond Lane 6'0" | 280 lbs | DL Washburn Rural | 2024 State KS , and Christian Gonzalez. With that much young beef, practices next fall in Topeka should be interesting to watch.
Max Barnes Max Barnes 5'11" | 175 lbs | DB Blue Valley Northwest | 2024 State KS , DB, 5’11”, 175, Blue Valley Northwest (Missouri S&T)
Barnes is ranked No. 124 in the newest Class of 2024 rankings. He could play either corner or safety. He had 49 total tackles, two interceptions, and one fumble recovery as a senior. Barnes is headed to Rolla, Missouri, to play for the Missouri S&T, a Division II program in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
