Preview, Preview, Preview: 2024 Rankings Update Set For Next Week

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One week from today the new Kansas Class of 2024 Prep Redzone Rankings will be published. There are now 475 total athletes ranked in that class and more than 300 of them have committed to college football programs.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here is a quick preview of what's to come. This scouting report features six athletes who were previously among the ranked players and all have committed to play college ball. To see where they are now ranked you will have to come back March 5, to see the updated rankings.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As usual, after that publication, Prep Redzone Scouts will feature the Top Newcomers, Stock Risers, and more committed and non-committed athletes.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='262783' first='Noah' last='Gunion'],</strong> ATH, 6'0”, 175, Shawnee Mission West (Augustana)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Gunion is a speedster who will fight for early playing time as a special teams contributor. During his senior season, he rushed for 147 yards and one touchdown. He also caught five balls and one in the end zone. He could also play defensive back. He is headed to Sioux Falls, South Dakota to play for the Augustana Vikings. If you're going to pick a town in South Dakota to play in you might as well pick one with a professional baseball team. Don't be surprised to run into the Shawnee Mission West product at the Birdcage some spring day taking in a Canaries game.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1103594' first='Owen' last='Farmer'],</strong> ATH, 5'7”, 140, Halstead (Friends)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Farmer won't have far to travel for his games on Saturdays. The Halstead native is headed to Wichita to play for the Friends Falcons. Farmer can do it all on the field, everything but maybe kicking the ball. He had 55 total tackles on the defensive side of the ball. The Dragon prospect also rushed for 312 yards, had 336 yards in receptions, and returned kicks. It will be interesting to see what position Friends Head Coach Terry Harrison plans to utilize Farmer's skills.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1103632' first='Grady' last='Jesseph'],</strong> K, 5'11”, 155, Derby (Dodge City CC)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Jesseph is an accurate kicker with a big leg. He converted on 63-of-79 extra-point conversions last season for the Panthers. His longest high school field went for 34 yards during his junior season. He is solid on kickoffs and is headed from one historic Kansas Cowton to another as he will play at Dodge City and hope to cash in on two big seasons and then land at a four-year school.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1119601' first='Damarion' last='Greenburk'],</strong> OL, 6'2” 315, Olathe East (William Woods)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Greenburk is a physical lineman, who I am surprised did not end up with a Division II program. He more than likely will compete for a spot on William Wood's offensive line. The Owls are an NAIA program that is joining the Heart of America Conference so friends and family can see him play at nearby MidAmerica Nazarene, Benedictine, and Baker.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='145514' first='Mason' last='King']</strong>, ATH, 5'9”, 220, Wamego (Garden City CC)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>King is one of many skilled athletes headed to Garden City to play for new coach Kiyoshi Harris. King is a skilled blocker who can be utilized as a tight end or fullback. He caught 21 balls for 335 yards during his senior season. He also finished with 165 yards and two touchdowns for Wamego last fall. King can be used as a straight-on lead blocker, as a tight end that secures the edge, or as a grinding ball carrier in short-yardage situations.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1105840' first='Daylee' last='Van Syckle'],</strong> OL, 6'4”, 205, Hutchinson (Coffeyville CC)</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Van Syckle just announced his commitment on February 25. He is headed east to play for the Coffeyville Ravens. He can play offensive tackle or tight end. The Ravens staff will have to decide where they want to utilize him. If it's tackle expect him to bulk up, and if it's tight end he needs to get a tick quicker. Or he could be utilized on tackle-eligible trick plays as he has nice speed and good hands. The word on the street is that they are going to look at him at tight end first.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
