In 2024, the events will kick off at Woodland on March 16.
That morning, the Class of 2025 selections will have their shot to spring board their 2024 seasons with strong showings while wearing Catapult GPS vests amid a league of high school coaches.
The following players are a few of the names that jumped off the list of 180 or so selections for the event.
Avery Jones Avery Jones 5'11" | 175 lbs | WR Airport | 2025 State SC WR, Airport – Jones had the making of a true breakthrough player in 2023 prior to an injury that sidelined him for a large portion of the season. He came back before exiting again. Now healthy, Jones could use the Combine to prove he’s ready to take a spot as one of the Midlands’ top receivers.
Dylan Polansky Dylan Polansky 5'10" | 195 lbs | LB Ashley Ridge | 2025 State SC LB, Ashley Ridge – Polansky is a bit of an athletic freak who has put up some dynamic strength and speed numbers (not to mention a solid season on the gridiron). If he repeats any of that in a vest, his recruiting could hit another gear and propel him into a monster season season with the Swamp Foxes.
Cameron Austin Cameron Austin 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB Barnwell | 2025 State SC QB, Barnwell – Austin is as good of a runner as he is a passer, and his athletic accomplishments have only just begun. There’s no reason his speed and arm strength can’t pop off at Woodland, and if he can get through the passing portion of the event in a manner akin to his running ability, Austin will hit the next level.
Johoava Williams Johoava Williams 5'11" | 200 lbs | DB Berkeley | 2025 State SC DB, Berkeley – It’s been a while since we’ve had a full look at Williams after he he transferred mid-semester from Goose Creek back to the Berkeley. He didn’t get to finish his junior season, and he’s also made the move to defensive back after originally being a tailback. Williams has skills, clearly, but this will be his first showing under the Stags’ umbrella.
Troy Timko Troy Timko 5'10" | 200 lbs | RB Hilton Head | 2025 State SC RB, Hilton Head – The 5-foot-10, 170-pound tailback hit 21.9 miles per hour during the Joanne Langfitt Challenge in Myrtle Beach in December. Considering he also ran for 1,200 yards as a junior, we’re intrigued to see what he’s done over the course of the last two-and-a-half months in preparing for 2024.
Malachi Jefferson Malachi Jefferson 5'10" | 250 lbs | DL James Island | 2025 State SC DL, James Island – While the Trojans’ defensive line has to be considered one to the best in the state in terms of talent, Jefferson’s own abilities allow him to stand out on his own. At 5-foot-10 and 250 pounds, he does this by exhibiting his footwork and quickness, two things we’ll have every chance to see during the combine.
JJ Fludd JJ Fludd 5'11" | 175 lbs | RB Porter-Gaud | 2025 State SC RB, Porter-Gaud – Fludd already has a 2,200-yard, 37-touchdown season on his resume and will be looking to prove he can hang with all the SCHSL tailbacks in attendance. We think he has it in him to do that and show off some of the skills that led him to achieve such insane numbers from the 2023 season.
Jevon Edwards Jevon Edwards 5'9" | 195 lbs | RB South Aiken | 2025 State SC RB, South Aiken (pictured) – Wow, y’all really took a flyer on this one, didn’t you? Picking a top-10 player in the class? Well, here’s why we listed Edwards. He may just top 23 miles per hour at Woodland. If he does that, he starts flirting with NFL combine-like numbers. He was a fraction of a mile per hour from doing just that during Langfitt.
Jerius Williams Jerius Williams 6'0" | 275 lbs | OL Sumter | 2025 State SC OL, Sumter – Interior linemen who are 6-foot, 275 pounds aren’t going to get a ton of headlines. But Williams is packed with a brand of power that has allowed him to be downright dominant at times in Sumter’s blue-collar offensive scheme. He moves well during games; we’re ready to see what he can do under these conditions, too.
Davion Kinard-Taylor Davion Kinard-Taylor 6'2" | 225 lbs | DL West Ashley | 2025 State SC DL, West Ashley – Kinard-Taylor made a few plays when we saw him during a playoff game that had us wondering just how his ceiling could be. He’s got a quick-twitch to him that most don’t, and he’s able to do against all types. March 16 might just be the date he shows everyone how much further a player who had 19 tackles for loss as a junior can go.
