[player_tooltip player_id='1158334' first='Ashawd' last='Wynn'] - Hobbton

It's a shame that I didn't know that much about Ashawd before I started to analyze him and his highlight film. Last season Ashawd had 94 catches for 1823 yards and 19 touchdowns, incredible production on the high school level for one season. Currently, his only offer is from Charlotte which is very surprising, given that he is listed at 6'1 and 190 pounds, a good size for a prospect at the wide receiver spot. Looking at the film, the first thing I would say about Ashawd is that everything he does is smooth - route running, footwork, speed - all of it looks natural. He creates very good separation in one-on-one coverage on a variety of downfield routes. He shows the ability to win jump balls in one-on-one situations as well. He does a great job in the quick screen game, setting up his blocks and getting north/south without a lot of wasted motion. It will be interesting to see him perform in the camp season this spring and summer.

[player_tooltip player_id='616895' first='Steven' last='Murray'] - Eastern Guilford

I have written about Steven before, and he did nothing to change my opinion of him since the last time I analyzed him - he is a very good player worthy of the recruiting attention he is currently receiving. At 6'1 and 160 pounds, Steven has received offers from Georgia Southern, Liberty, East Carolina, and Marshall since January. Last season Steven had 935 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns, along with 32 tackles and 5 interceptions on defense. Looking at the film, Steven is speed personified, and at that size that is a major asset. In his first clip, he catches a hitch in the flat, jukes the defensive back, and takes it to the house from 60 yards out. Steven creates a large separation on deep routes against single coverage, making easy deep throws for the quarterback. Finally, Steven exhibits excellent body control, making several toe-tap catches against the sideline, and keeping his feet in bounds. Very good prospect.

Ja'Zyion Geiger - Albemarle

A 2-time all-conference player, and this past season's offensive player of the year in his conference with no offers, I had to dig into Ja'Zyion and see what the deal was with him. So, as a 6'1 and 165-pound prospect, Ja'Zyion also plays safety on defense along with his offensive talents at wide receiver. With 40 catches for 690 yards and 7 touchdowns, Ja'Zyion was a definite big-play threat on the outside. In the vast majority of those touchdowns, he was winning against single coverage on a variety of routes with good separation. Some of these catches were contested jump balls against both single and double coverage. Ja'zyion shows some excellent vertical leaping ability, and some incredible catch radius talent - there is one catch on his film where he completely lays out and makes a very nice finger-tip catch, maintaining ball control the whole time. Ja'Zyion is also a ballhawk at the safety spot, and not afraid to make contact in run support. I would like to see him up close in a camp setting, that would help with his exposure from a college standpoint also.

[player_tooltip player_id='1050645' first='Isaiah' last='Blair'] - Northwood

At 6'2 and 175 pounds, Isaiah is a good-looking prospect here. When you take a look at his highlight film, a few things stand out. Isaiah is a playmaker in multiple phases of the game. He can make some big plays in the kick return and punt return game - he is like a running back with the ball in his hands, using good vision to get into space and then run away from defenders with very good speed. As a receiver, he is a home-run threat, using a very good release at the line against press coverage, that same speed to create separation, and then strong hands to make textbook catches and take the catch the distance. He can also make plays in the quick-screen game, setting up his blocks well and using good agility to avoid defenders. Isaiah currently has some recruiting attention but does not have any offers at the moment.

[player_tooltip player_id='902991' first='Donavan' last='Pauling-Outlaw'] - Southview

A 2-time all-conference player, I have seen Donavan up close previously at a showcase, and he is a speed threat no matter where he lines up. This highlight film was really fun to watch - in the first play Donavan makes a one-hand catch, jukes 3 defenders, and takes it the distance from 50 yards out. Those kinds of plays grab your attention, and Donavan kept mine by making short catches evading defenders, and taking the ball to the end zone over and over again. On a reverse, he outruns the defense, who had leverage, for a 70-yard touchdown run. He has dynamic plays as a kickoff returner on special teams as well. He can line up outside or in the slot, and is strong enough to break solo tackles in space as well. Players like this should have some recruiting attention, and I hope that as spring season comes, colleges will love that big-play explosive ability to give him some more love because it is deserved. At 6'0 and 165 pounds, his size should be good enough for some more recruiting interest!

[player_tooltip player_id='701261' first='Jaedon' last='Alford'] - Rolesville

Incredible production from this young man this past season with 92 catches for over 1800 yards receiving and 21 touchdowns. At 6'0 and 185 pounds, his film shows the total package. Jaedon is a quick twitch athlete who has excellent speed in the open field. He shows great agility to get into open spaces and maximize his athletic ability. Jaedon consistently shows the ability to make plays on the outside or lined up in the slot. On the outside, he is adept and working double moves against single coverage to create a ton of separation against corners. In the slot, Jaedon can read man vs. zone coverage well and exploit either looks with ease. Finally, he shows the ability to win jump balls in one-on-one situations consistently. He has offers from Appalachian State, Charlotte, Temple, Wake Forest, and Coastal Carolina among others.
