About C.J.

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a big play threat type of runningback that offers a good mixture of Speed, Power and Balance. If the team needs a yard, I'll hit the hole and use my strength to get that yard. If our team needs a spark, I'll turn the corner out on the perimeter and use my breakaway speed to deliver the big play.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I hold myself to a high standard both in athletics, acadamics and keeping good morals. My strong desire to win and be successful runs through my blood, and I set and maintain high goals for myself. This helps me work long and hard, as I am unrelenting in my work habits. I am also mentally tough, and am receptive to coaching advice as being coached up is important to being successful.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I volunteer during the summer at a Day Camp in my town called Day Camp Sunshine and also at fundraising events run by our high school's Touchdown Booster Club. I also am a member of the Ridge Unified Sports program, where we help coach special needs students in our school participate in specialized sports.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I enjoy the role of leadership and do my best to influence and guide others in a positive way. I have also learned a lot about being selfless in doing community service work in town for churches.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

A few years ago my mother became ill and was in the hospital for weeks and was on disability for a couple years after. During that time it taught me how to become more responsible and take on a bigger role in my household with chores and responsibility.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a school that will continue to help prepare me for the real world, and offer a solid academic program. More importantly, I would love to join a collegiate football program with a staff that is exacting in character and leadership, and teammates I can bond with.

CJ Griffith had some monster games this last season as the fullback in Ridge’s Wing-T offense. We see that he uses the stiff arm for both balance and to evade pile-ups in his path. Better than your typical fullback, Griffith has shown that he can outrun some linebackers to the perimeter when given a toss. In close quarters he uses the jump cut to gain a few extra yards, while also showing he can set up his blockers to spring loose. Of the upmost importance in a Wing-T offense, Griffith has shown loyalty to his track, running it and trusting where the play is designed to hit.
