About Alec

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a pocket passer. I have accuracy & arm strength to get the ball to athletes. I excel at throwing on the run. In the last 2 years, I’ve worked on my footwork which has really helped with my timing of throws for different game situations. I know when a punch 1 is needed vs. a 3 step & even the occasional 5 step drop. I’ve got the brains to break down film & learn strategy & how to make reads

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Work ethic – I don’t shy away from hard work. I am willing to put time in at the gym, in the coach’s office on film/plays, in the classroom on schoolwork or privately working outside of practice to improve my skills. Teammate – Being a part of a team is my main reason for playing sports. I thrive in those moments when we work together to win a game.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

AP scholar with distinction recognition, 36 perfect ACT score recognition, member of National Honor Society, Play club volleyball with Steel City Volleyball Club, play Varsity Boys Volleyball for high school

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

In both sports that I play, I cannot win the games alone. In volleyball, someone is usually setting me up to score a point, but in football, I am often setting my teammate up to score the points. In the last 2 years, it has been nice being a leader on the teams to help set the tone of how we play together and how we treat the younger players coming up and help them learn.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

My junior season was a challenge due to an injury second week into the season (hyperextended my knee in practice). The first game showed promise in what our season could be like and then getting the injury stopped it in its tracks. I tried to come back in the last few games of the season before healed all the way to help the team out, and it just was a struggle physically and mentally.

What type of college are you looking for?

A challenging one - both academically and athletically. I like being challenged both on and off the field. I'm a guy that likes improving and excelling at anything I put my mind to.
