Continue ReadingThis is a review of the fourteen players who make up the Pre-Season 2A All-State Offensive Team. The team has two quarterbacks, two running back, two wide receivers, tight end, five offensive linemen, athlete, and a kicker.
QB – Tye Saxby, Hertford County. He is an accurate passer with good arm strength. He was the Conference Offensive Player of the Year during the 2019 season. He passed for over 2,900 yards.
QB – Kyle Pinnix Kyle Pinnix 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Reidsville | 2021 State NC , Reidsville. He shows good accuracy on the short passes. He will run to avoid a sack and gain yardage. Displays a quick release on his throws.
RB – Na’heim Lilly Na’heim Lilly 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB Eastern Randolph | 2022 State NC , Eastern Randolph. Runs strong inside the tackles to gain yards. Displays good breakaway speed in the open field.
RB – Aiden Shewcow, Oak Grove. He is an explosive straight-line runner. He accelerates in the open field and outruns defenders. He rushed for over 1,800 yards during the 2019 season.
WR – Austin Poe, Ashe County. Displays ability to separate from defender to make the catch, scoring often. He had over 1,000 yards receiving during the 2019 season.
WR – Jamarien Dalton, North Davidson. Athletic wide receiver who makes the first defender miss. Displays good hands while making catches in traffic. He has break-away speed in the open field.
TE – Antonio McFadden Antonio McFadden 6'3" | 225 lbs | TE Whiteville | 2021 State NC , Whiteville. He runs with power after making the catch. He uses his body to shield defender to make the catch.
OL – Jacob Patterson, South Point. Displays good lateral quickness and speed out of his stance to block defender into the second level of defense. A good combination of size and power on the offensive line.
OL – Matthew Steadman, Oak Grove. A huge lineman who overpowers defender with size and strength. Strong in straight-line blocking makes him difficult to contain.
OL – Neyland Walker Neyland Walker 6'5" | 285 lbs | OL Pisgah | 2021 State NC , Pisgah. Big mobile lineman who drives defender out of the play, often resulting in a pancake block. Displays good lateral movement and use of hands.
OL – Steven Trim, Randleman. Displays good footwork and technique. Strong in straight-line blocking driving defender into the second level of defense.
OL – Shayle Gash, Shelby. Dominant force on the offensive line. Exceptionally good use of hands and lateral movement. He overpowers defender with strength and quickness.
ATH – Ty Williams, Maiden. An athletic player who possesses a combination of speed and quickness to excel as a wide receiver and as a defensive back. He can separate from the defender to make the catch. He utilizes speed and quickness to play man coverage as a defensive back.
K – Griffin Bryson, Hibriten. Displays a strong leg and accuracy on kicks in the 30 to 40 yards range. He was Conference Specialist of the Year during the 2019 season.
