Totaling 3,273 passing yards and 37 TDs, and 1,228 rushing yds and 12 TDs on the ground, the dual threat Ealy cracked the rankings for the first time this December. The senior has a powerful arm and can make some tough off platform throws on the run. Mechanically, Ealy is a smooth thrower and can flick his wrist to create a huge play. He has a sound base and knows how to reset before throwing when he becomes pressured in the pocket. Operating well off play action and on sprint outs, Ealy forces defenses to stay on their toes and cover the entire field. Athletically, he has good speed and burst in the open field. This is the type of player deserving of a college opportunity by February. Watch out for the local JuCos to get a steal.
Leading Laurel to a 4-1 region record, Kobe Pierce Kobe Pierce 6’1″ | 175 lbs | QB Laurel | 2024 State MS will play at Pearl River Community College next season. This is a guy that plays his best football from the pocket, but has the ability to scramble and make something out of nothing. In the pocket, he has a good base with active feet. You will never catch him with dead feet in the pocket. Pierce has a smooth over the top release and can make throws at all levels of the field. His best game comes from the intermediate levels of the field. Despite being so lethal as a passer, Pierce runs the option game well as well. He is an explosive athlete that knows how to find the edge and use his speed to win for big gains. Great pick up by Pearl River.
Committed to play at Holmes Community College next season, Charlie Fair Charlie Fair 6’1″ | 200 lbs | QB Grenada | 2024 State MS was an exceptional high school quarterback this past season. Fair is a pure pocket passer that can make multi level reads. This is the type of guy that can easily identify coverage and know who his open man will be pre-snap. Fair has a calm demeanor when passing and doesn’t let pressure get to him. He can easily navigate and reset to deliver strikes downfield. Fair has a big arm, but what stands out most is his accuracy. Although Fair will be playing next season on Thursday nights, do not be surprised when he ends up playing on Saturdays in a year or two.
Earning his first offer from Hinds Community College, Jabari Watson Jabari Watson 6’0″ | 180 lbs | QB Jefferson County | 2024 State MS ‘s offer sheet should be growing as the new year comes in. The vertical passer forces defenses to expect a big play every down. Watson is smooth in the pocket and can use his body to generate a ton of force to get the ball downfield. Watson reads high to low and isn’t afraid to give his guys chances downfield. Despite being such a dominant passer, Watson can also run the power read series efficiently. Given his larger frame and athleticism, he can take the ball up the A gap for a big gain in the rushing attack. Watch for the Jefferson County product to add additional offers coming soon.
A dynamic athlete at quarterback, Marcus Jones Marcus Jones 6’0″ | 185 lbs | QB Ethel | 2024 State MS is still waiting on his first college opportunity. The explosive runner was one of the most athletic players at the position this season. Jones played in a heavy run offense that played well to his strengths. Frequently, he heard his own number called on designed runs. Jones has great speed and burst and can use his athleticism to make defenders miss in the open field. He also has enough strength to break arm tackles. Jones also spent time at defensive back and showed a lot of physicality and ball skills. Don’t be surprised if college coaches see his future on the defensive side of the football despite his offensive success.
