Not to be lost on a South County championship caliber squad is senior cornerback Kire Keys. The young man had a great outing last week and is not to be overlooked with the Stallions defense that boasts studs across the board. He is a technique savvy defensive back who was all over the field in his team’s nail biting win over West Potomac. What I enjoy most about his play in the secondary is that he is not afraid to come up and hit anyone. Regardless of the players size or strength this dude will take them on and make you pay for it after.

While not winning their district this regular season the Warhawks title aspirations are far from over and Cael Yates Cael Yates 5’9″ | 160 lbs | QB James Madison | 2025 State VA and company proved that last week. The younger brother of standout 2024 wideout Cord Yates Cord Yates 5’9″ | 160 lbs | WR James Madison | 2024 State VA , Cael had a great outing in Madison dominating win over Langley. Accounting for three touchdown passes Yates is not to be overlooked on a loaded roster with division 1 prospects all around. He will have his hands full this week facing Mclean but just as his squad has done all year, expect him and the Warhawks to take the adversity on with flying colors.

All he did in Yorktown’s thrilling upset win over South Lakes was catch the game winning touchdown on a dime from Hudson Greene. Watching this kid run routes with precise movement I see more why he carved up the Seahawks defense for 6 receptions and 130 yards. This young man can fly and he can get behind any secondary, should be a fun matchup next week against Westfield.

An under the radar prospect for the class of 2025 is first team all conference running back Kennedy Duda Kennedy Duda 5’9″ | 165 lbs | RB Westfield | 2025 State VA . The Westfield Bulldogs have gone under the radar a bit this year but Duda and company do not care as they are prepping for their playoff matchup. This speedster gashed Washington-Liberty early for a pair of first half touchdowns and the Bulldogs would not need much more to cruise on to their victory. Duda faces a tough defense this Friday and you can bet the Patriots will be keying on him, can Westfield respond?

One of my players to watch last week did not let me or the Bruins faithful down with his two touchdown night. In Lake Braddock’s comfortable win over Mount Vernon, Austin had 4 receptions for 126 yards with the big one coming early on a 90 yard bomb. Lake Braddock have quietly come into their own as the season has gone on and will be a tough out for any opponent.
