These preps, who we like to refer to as “Stock Risers”, have made some really impressive jumps in the rankings once the update was completed, and all of them deserve to be commended to for their hard work and are really promising underclassman prospects. Let’s take a look at some of the highlights below; thanks for reading!
#3: Tak Tateoka Tak Tateoka 6'3" | 195 lbs | QB Waukesha South | 2023 State WI (Waukesha South) QB. 6’3, 180 lbs. Moved up from #33 to #3 in the rankings. One of the most physically talented and mechanically sound QB prospects of any age I’ve come across since I’ve been doing this job, and had a great showing at our recent PrepRedzoneWI Showcase and had the coaches and staff in attendance raving. He’s got arm strength, accuracy, decision-making, footwork, mobility, and just about everything else you’re looking for in a young QB prospect. The class of 2023 is extremely talented at the QB position, but Tateoka has still shown what it takes to hold that #1 spot in the position group.
#4: Chase Spellman Chase Spellman 6'4" | 230 lbs | QB Kettle Moraine | 2024 WI (Kettle Moraine) QB. 6’2, 200 lbs. Moved from #6 to #4. Another outstanding QB prospect who is physically talented and has a cannon for an arm, Spellman is part of an uber talented 2023 class for KM, and he no doubt has the ability to compete for the #1 QB spot in the state. He’s already experienced, is a great athlete at the QB position, and has some really nice deep-ball accuracy.
#7: Najeh Mitchell Najeh Mitchell 5'9" | 175 lbs | ATH West De Pere | 2023 State WI (West De Pere) RB. 5’9, 160 lbs. Moved from #9 to #7. An electric and explosive playmaker who can take the ball to the house with only a sliver of daylight, we were keen on his talent from the beginning but still believed he deserved a bump in the rankings. He’s shifty and very fun to watch run the rock.
#11: CJ Johnson CJ Johnson 6'2" | 235 lbs | ATH Waukesha South | 2023 State WI (Waukesha South) LB. 6’2, 220 lbs. Moved from the deep teens into the #11 spot. One of the biggest hitters on this entire list, Johnson saw himself jump almost double-digit places after he replicated his aggressive and physical playing style in the sadly only two game season that Waukesha South saw in 2020. With great size and an ability to move at around 220 lbs., he’s a really solid LB prospect in the 2023 class.
#32: Joey Flaherty Joey Flaherty 6'3" | 200 lbs | WR Oak Creek | 2023 State WI (Oak Creek) WR. 6’2, 170 lbs. Moved from the watchlist to the #32 spot. A tall and long WR prospect who we had on our watchlist saw his stock jump after he made some nice catches in 2020. He’s got good ball-tracking ability, soft hands, and can create a little bit of separation. If he continues to hit the weight room hard he’s going to be a good one.
