The St. Louis Metro area continues to grow outward in population and with it is the football talent growing in those surrounding counties that are considered part of it. Counties such as Jefferson County, Franklin County and Warren County are seeing greater success. Here are some 2025 running backs from those areas who have had breakout seasons.

Festus St. Pius X's [player_tooltip player_id='1251422' first='Justin' last='Lehn'] (6'0" 210) is a powerfully built running back who does double duty on defense and is having a monster season on both sides of the ball. As a rusher Lehn had carried the ball 145 times for 1,574 yards and 27 touchdowns for an 8,1 yards per carry average. Justin not only has good strength and power but is fast as well and is a homerun threat when he touches the ball. While i'm spotlighting his ability as a running back I would be remiss if I didn't mention that he has also recorded 125 tackles, 14 sacks, a fumble and an interception on defense through 10 games, and is still playing as of this week.

The Warrenton Warriors are 10-0 on the season so far heading into the second round of the playoffs, and junior running back [player_tooltip player_id='1251411' first='Austin' last='Haas'] (5'8" 170) is a large part of the reason why. Haas is quick, fast, elusive, and despite his size a strong runner who makes yards after contact and can power the ball in short yardage situations, and can be a workhorse type back. Austin has rushed for 1,450 yards and 22 touchdowns on 184 carries for a 7.9 yards per carry average. He is also a receiving threat out of the backfield or in the slot and has added 235 more yards on 15 receptions and a touchdown catching the ball. For good measure he also returns kick offs and punts.

Another junior running back who has had a similar impact as a runner and receiver is Union Wildcats back Harry Parmenter (5'11" 170), who is their leading rusher with 930 yards and 9 touchdowns rushing with 9 touchdowns while averaging 7.3 yards per carry, while also being their third leading receiver with 247 yards and 4 touchdowns on 11 catches for a 22.5 yards per catch average.

Washington (MO) Borgia has benefitted from the talents of junior back [player_tooltip player_id='1251418' first='Hayden' last='Wolfe'] (6'0" 185) who can run with speed and power, and has been their leading rusher on the season carrying the ball 97 times for 793 yards and 16 touchdowns for an8.2 yards per carry average. Wolfe has also had an impact on defense as well contributing 36 tackles, a sack and 2 interceptions as one of their best overall players.

The St. Louis Metro area continues to grow outward in population and with it is the football talent growing in those surrounding counties that are considered part of it.
